Hello all,

I've just bought an apartment in the Algarve so I'm over here at the moment. I also thought it would be nice to buy a Gallardo so took delivery of one last night. It's an 06 plate E-gear in black with 51k on the clock. I imported the car from the Czech Republic so I am miles away from the dealer who sold me the car. I did pay a company similar to the AA to go and check the car out, however there seems to be a problem with the car.

The car seems to have a rough idle, if you then rev it in neutral it vibrates slightly. Then when you pull off it kangaroos a little like a car on a cold morning. The worst part is that when you put the car in reverse it kangaroos badly. It does manage to reverse but looks and feels terrible. I'm thinking this is all clutch related, what do you guys think? I'd like some idea before I go back to both the dealer and the company who checked it for me.

Thanks.

Is it warm when doing this? If you try and move off (especially in reverse) from cold without letting the revs settle you'll find it does this. Also, ensure the fuel doesn't fall below half - that is meant to impact idling for reasons I don't understand.

ETA - you might want to have the PIS checked too.

As above, in COLD these cars are horrible.

Does it do all this when you have left it sat to fully warm up?

Some of the symptoms sound clutch + cold related.

should really have got a specialist to PPI, not the AA/RAC!

anyhows, you should upon starting the car wait, at least a minute, before selecting any gear.... the revs are high and then settle, only start moving when the revs are below 1500, even though with pressing the throttle they will rise again.... if your car is doing this even when warm, houston, we have a problem...

Sounds like a missfire. Any electrical burning smell from the engine bay? Coils fail on these and will only generate a cel after 3 triggers. Any generic code reader will be able to see if a misfire code is stored. If theres something such as p0300 logged in there have the coils checked. If you find a melted/damaged/ high resistance one change it. They are the same as late vw golf so don't have your pants pulled down buying off the Lamborghini dealer if they need replacement...
