Hello all,

I posted something about this in the "speed six" section, but am just appealing for any further ideas.

I have a Tuscan 2S which has been running beautifully. It was serviced in June, and after this was fine. I was then away for 3 weeks when the car was not used. Since I returned I've noticed that the the car seemed very close to stalling when I pull away, requiring an engine RPM of 2000 or more before the clutch is engaged. I've just sat in the car playing with the throttle and noticed that with very gentle pressure on the throttle (and the car in neutral), the engine RPM actually drops, with further pressure it picks up again. The car idles at around 750rpm, gentle throttle pressure drops this to 500rpm....

Chaps in the speed six section suggested throttle bodies, plugs, leads and coil pack. I had the coil pack changed last year, and the plugs were new at the service.

Anyone had anything similar with their Tuscan, is this a common fault?

I'm going to have a chat with the guys that service it tomorrow, but just thought I'd question PH as well.

Thanks

Have you reset the throttle pots using the software.

No, unfortunately I don't have the software, or the lead for connection. The car wasn't used for 3 weeks and the battery ran flat so I had to jump start it, could this have affected the throttle pots?

It would be worth eliminating, as what your describing sounds like throttle movement is being interperted incorrectly.

where are you based?

I wouldnt mind helping you balance throttle bodies resetting software if you are nearby...im sure there are others on here that will help too.

Things is if this isnt the answer you may still end up at a specialist.

Diagnosis is pretty difficult for the service centre over the phone, they will probably ask you to bring it in regardless...

RobertJP thanks so much for the kind offer, I am based in south west London, so I think a little way from you. However it turns out you were spot on, I took the car to the specialist today, and they did exactly what you suggested, balanced the throttles and reset the ECU. The car is now running perfectly again.

I am one happy camper!
