I see that the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone have now added the GT3RS 4.0 to the list of cars they have, and you can drive it if you book the RS Evolution Experience course with them.
I was there back in April and the instructors were hoping to get one but were a little taken aback as one had just sold for 190,000 quid.
I would have liked to see the 'justification' proposal that they had to write to get this on their books smile

Any one booked the course yet?

I saw this email & quite fancied it, it's not like I'll get much chance to drive one otherwise!

But then I thought I might just break my heart, never being able to drive one again! frown

There were 4 at the ring last weekend & the noise cloud9

Hmmm... I'm waiting for an Invitation though the door very soon.

Can you pick and choose what ever model you want to drive in regardless of the model you purchased?

I don't know if I will ever get the chance to drove this car EVER?

PS I have a Cayman R

Yes, you can hire any of their cars.

Thanks for that. Do you know if is it also possible to drive different cars on the same day also?

.. I got an 'invitation' email yesterday for the RS day, it's £500 for a few laps in a 3.8 then a 4.0.. it is an experience yes, but the go kart track only just gets you into 3rd, so has limited value as a track day exp IMO.. for sure it's nice to drive 1 .. but the playground across the road is where its at for those cars really.. wink

Yeah got the same invitation and concluded the same. Just not enough room to get these cars going. You'd struggle to see 7000 revs in 2nd on that course, let alone 3rd where you would be seriously shifting.

I did the experience day in the GT3 RS 3.8 and it was great. Did lots of laps and thoroughly enjoyed it, compared to the many track days I do.
Well worth it and you don't have to buy the car, tyres insurance etc.

I did it too and agree however the track is small and unless they let you take it at higher speeds you can't get enough out of the car. It depends which instructor you get. After watching Phil I think take a passenger round sideways almost the whole track you can get a lot out of it - but will they let you?

FYI the 4.0 is available for hire on most if the courses for around £375 per day. Bargain? You decide...

I did the the RS experience at the end of the March which was £550 for 30 minutes in each of a GT3 RS 3.8, GT3RS 4.0 and GT2RS. I spent most of the time on the handling track I whilst it is abit limited, it has a great range of corners and can almost hit the limiter in 3rd on the fastest point of the track. It does depend on your instructor and how confident they feel in your driving. In my case I drove it as hard as could and it was brilliant. I then drove home in my 997.1 GT3, but it still felt like 80% of the RS 4.0 to me, for 1/3rd the price! Also, interesting is that I drove the GT2RS first, and then the 3.8 and expected the 3.8 would feel abit lame, but it didn't, the higher Revs means shorter gearing and you can get into the throttle earlier than the 2 meaning the same peak speed at the end of the straight - I'm sure the 2 would pull away on a bigger track, but was interesting all the same.

Many people moan about the small handling track, but I personally think it has been really well designed and has seem really interesting corners - so worth trying it out in the 4.0!

The video we watched at the YouDrive intro stated that the handling circuit is supposed to be similar to B road driving, and it is to a fair degree.

The whole Porsche Experience Centre courses are layered, so that you have to do their track first before you can drive one of their cars (or your own) on Silverstone proper. After the initial introductory course you can do time on the main circuit and then after that I think you can do 2 successive half days on the circuit. It's all on their website.
And you can select which cars to drive from their list, which is pretty impressive, from air cooled to RS2 & 4.0.
Same sort of graduating applies to the Ice Schools in Finland.

It's tight but I managed to snatch 3rd before hammering hard on the brakes for the corner outside the PEC.

GT3 RS4.0 is enormous amount of fun - well worth doing even on the kart track!

Not from my own personal experience - and I've been there three times now. I think you must be talking about the "Porsche Sport Driving School" which is really expensive, and quite separate from the YouDrive, GT Experience, 911 Evolution, etc. courses which are all done on their own facility.

I have done almost all the courses apart from 2 day Performance. Even on the most expensive I did - Precision - I was not allowed to go on Silverstone even though I was told I could beforehand.

I was there last weekend! I was parked next to the Swedish white one, awesome machine, there was a black one cutting around too - along with a 458, I saw it in the evening at the Pistenklause!

There was also a Rennwerk MP4-12C on track. It was a good weekend for cars and petrolheads alike to be honest!
