Wales Enforcement Office, Port Talbot
Discussion
I have just received a letter from them stating that I must pay them £1,305 which I supposedly owe them!
For what! I have not been to Wales since 2009 and I have never received any correspondance stating that I committed an offence.
Any ideas what is going on here?
Has somebody cloned my reg, or stolen my identity?
The offices are not open until Monday, and this is now going to bug me for the rest of the weekend.
Any help very much welcome.

Maybe it's this:

- and we English have to pay the difference individually now.

Why do you think it's car related -
Why would anyone think that in Wales? Let's see. Coming back on Friday morning on the M4, from J28 to J24 at Celtic Manor, the overhead gantries had the following, Bear in mind that this was on a very sunny day, no visibility problems, nice and dry and no obstructions.
Gantries were set at 60, then 40 then 40, then 50, then 60, then 40 then 50 onwards till 24.
The last one at Celtic manor didn't have an all clear and 23A onwards were blank so technically, they could have claimed a 50 till over the bridge and into Englandshire.
They did throw up the Caution, Queues Ahead warning triangle and this was correct as all the faffing about changing speeds was causing traffic to bunch up a bit
Naturally, there were a few Police Bimmer Bikes parked at jaunty "Mad Max Pursuit Mode" angles on some of the slip roads probably so if you were going quicker than 40 on a nice straight bit in the sunshine, they could have a little play.
Do we have any Welsh BIB or Trafpol on here? What's the explanation apart from entrapment?

More information from the contents of the letter would be a starting point.

If they're the bikes parked up at the Magor bridge, then they'll be enforcing VOSA checks - the VOSA van will have an ANPR setup somewhere checking tax and MOT status.Do we have any Welsh BIB or Trafpol on here? What's the explanation apart from entrapment?

Is this all? It seems a tad short on detail ... not to mention missing at least the front page. To pay a Court Fine online you need the Division and Account number from your Fine Notice or Order.

This is all that I received. Streaky
I have not received anything else to say that I committed an offence, a demand for me to appear in court or broke the law in some way.
I can't imagine what I have done! The suspense is killing me.
Was party to a similar event about 4 years ago.
One of my team got a similar letter, seems that an individual with the same name & a similar date of birth owed outstanding fines - enquires revealed that the office had used a credit search and it had thrown up my team member as a possible, hence the letter.
A quick phone call and a fax including his driving licence made them happy and the carried on looking for the real subject.

I just told my wife, until recently a civil servant in a department which collects money, and she was horrified
I'd be writing to my MP, I think.
I am surprised this does not happen more often if the search is so inaccurate.I'd be writing to my MP, I think.
The lady I spoke to reeled off addresses that I have never lived at, not even near to them!
She apologized for the worry it had caused me.
