Won't be the Princess sadly -

Although I don't ever remember it being called the Princess 60.

This IS the 60th Anniversary of its first flight though.

I remember seeing the remains of G-ALUN when it taken to Woolston in Southampton for scrapping in the late 60's. I wish I had taken Photos.

There is another picture (possibly of the same flypast) that used to adorn the walls of the RAE Assembly hall, where my operatic society/musical society used to rehearse. It was always a nice visual distraction.
Unfortunately, that particular picture doesn't seem to have made its way onto the internet - yet.

At the extreme right is the prototype Avro Vulcan. Following up behind is a trio of Avro 707s - the "mini-Vulcans" which were built to test out various concepts related to the delta winged design.

Real pity they didn't get sold and used. Wikipedia gives a good tale on the demise - corrosion due to storage.

The brochure advertising it stuck around Newport is just saying the "Princess 60"as constructed by Saunders & Roe at Cowes, also no mention of what will be in the fly past,if I see anything more I shall post it.

Is that 4xContra props and two normals are a trick of the picture? And are they turbop's or piston engines?

Ah, thank you, I thought it might be. The Avro test pilot lives just down the road.

one engine to each propellor!

Bristol Proteus coupled for the double prop units, single (objussly) for the solo efforts.

Well worth a Google for you youngsters.
