Bugatti Veyron Repair Bill
Discussion
I can't understand it myself, but I thought it might be of interest, as there's been much talk on the cost of Veyron maintenance. I'm sure someone will be able to translate.
Sorry if it's already been posted, but with the search function down, it's impossible to find anything on here.
Buggering up the (very expensive) magnesium wheel, and the (very expensive) tyre, which would then need to be replaced on both sides.
Then bumper costs too, and all the associated stuff that goes with it (for example, every nut and bolt is titanium), £77k doesn't actually seem that bad?!
Yes, it's a lot of money to me of course, but as a % of it's new value it seems very comparable to other cars.

Comparable, really... 'Approx' 7% of new price to put a bumper on paint it and a couple of wheels and tyres.....Then bumper costs too, and all the associated stuff that goes with it (for example, every nut and bolt is titanium), £77k doesn't actually seem that bad?!

Sounds totally reasonable to me. Remember this is a £1.2m car. Just because the Veyron depreciates faster than Facebook shares doesn't mean the repair costs do as well. Unfortunately, this is one of the key reasons why these hyper cars will never make sensible purchases for anyone who has to worry about the phrases 'running costs' and 'budgets'.
As for Bentley doing the repair- you will find that they are all part of the same group and are essentially the same company...

Total piss take. Partly explains why the resale on these is so ridiculously bad. More money than sense, if the uber rich are starting to see that.
250 GTO is 25m quid. Bumper repair, you'd probably get change out of a few hundred quid. Puts it in perspective. Trouble is VW lost so much on these cars and now they are trying to recoup by shafting customers with the after sales maintenance....

It's a poor representative, but merely to show the increase in the car's original cost takes with it the repair costs.
The car's original cost contains all of those bits which push up the cost; titanium bolts, magnesium wheels, carbon fibre bumper etc. etc. And therefore the price of those to fix increase along with it.
While it's not a perfect comparison - it would suggest your 599 GTO, Andrew, would be £21k to repair a similar thing. Is that a million miles away from what it would cost?!

Of course, someone spraying a bumper doesn't cost any more whether it's a Veyron or a Vauxhall.
tbh i reckon it probably doesbugatti painters will apply many more coats, do much labour intensive finishing and polishing, and rectify faults that vauxhall won't bother with
