I had a windows based Toshiba lap top which expired after 7 years (motherboard). I recovered hard drive, and caddied it up and can see most of the old word/photo files etc on there, via connecting to new mac using usb.

However I cant find old outlook email folders or address book, and having done some (re)searching i believe that they are kept in hidden folders, and i cant find any ideas on how to 'unhide' folders on the connected drive, or to find the ones i need. I can find out how to unhide using the full computer menu, but not not when i am only able to access the hard drive as an attached one, to my Mac.

any thoughts or pointers would be most welcome!

thanks

Outlook emails are kept in an OST or PST file, not in folders as such (they're in folders within the file).

You need to find out if your email app on the mac can import OST or PST files. If it does, just feed it the file and you should get your emails back. If not, you'll need to find a utility to convert the OST or PST file, I'm not sure if one exists though.
