stop over in Blackpool
Discussion
looking to go up to blackpool, late September, early October dropping the sag off at dc trim for a day or 2, so can anyone recommend a decent hotel, with safe car parking?
I aim to stay for 4 -5 nights and make a small break of it, never been there before so would like to be near the seafront, but from what I have found so far car parking is a small bit of tarmac for 10 cars in front of a 100 room hotel, and some rooms seem a bit basic.
maybe there are some nicer places a short taxi ride away from the promenade?
can any local tvr peeps offer some suggestions?

Nice hotel? Blackpool? oxymoron?
Did you look at the Hilton? though not sure if its car park is "safe" as its open to anyone with a mind to.
Have you looked at Lytham? slighty more posh and just a taxi ride away from the prom.
There are others and its been a while since I stayed in either so things may have changed.

The De Vere near Stanley Park is OK but its about a 20 minute walk to the front. Loads of safe parking though. Also the Imperial and the Hilton, which are both on the Prom, have good car parks. I've stayed in all of them and our favourite was the Imperial. We had a good laugh there. Booked the room for 3 nights and ended up staying there all week!
The grand in lytham st annes is nice you
parking was outside mind but when i was there they was alot of other nice motors parked up

This is my local, and both food and hotel are outstanding. It's about six miles from the factory.

Clive, if you time it right, you could plan your visit at the same time as the final round of the Tuscan Challenge, which is at Oulton Park. Think it is Oct 13th. Usually quali and 2 races on the one day, and Oulton isn't that far from Blackpool.
Go on, you know it makes sense

Clive, i would not recommend parking your car during the day, never mind over night anywhere on Blackpool Promenade or Blackpool town centre full stop. It aint a great place.
Hotel wise and car safety, Lytham is fine, infact very upper class. The Grand is very good. Its still on the sea front and only a few miles from Blackpool centre.
Have to say though the Cartford Arms as already stated is superb and would be my choice. Great rural location and in the car still only 15 mins from Blackpool.

thanks for all of the suggestions,my thoughts on being along the sea front was purely because while the car was at dc trim we would be within walking distance of the attractions etc, and the mrs has always wanted to see the illuminations, however it does seem wise to be slighlty removed form th seafront, and jump in a taxi
the grand looks nice, the imperial as well, but concerned about the car left in the car park, I`d end up sleeping in the car and leave the mrs in the hotel

Personally if I was going to stay in Blackpool I'd stay at the Heron's Reach DeVere, it's where we based the BNG/BackHome in 2010 and we've just been talking to them about something next year so they'll be aware of TVRs, you just need to watch the speed bumps.

Alternatively somewhere that's good and on the seafront but not Blackpool is the Clifton Arms at Lytham. Very nice.

We went to the BNG in Blackpool couple years back, and were so pleased not to be staying in Blackpool itself.
Sorry if this offends the locals, but what a dump Blackpool has become.
I thought the like of Minehead, Brean, WSM were bad but they are jewels in comparison.
For the BNG we stayed here with two other couples, a little way outside but a fanatastic place:

www.thefernleahotel.co.uk I phoned thios eveing to ask abou car parking, which they said was ample for the hotel, but google earth shows it as being a bit small for the size of the hotel, anyone know this place at all??

I've stayed here, Sagaris parked up at the back after I asked, but far enough away from the candy floss fingers anyway!

I live in the Norbreck part of Blackpool which is quite a nice area, your comments do not offend me as most of Blackpool is a SHI-HOLE and I never go in to central Town for this reason. I am sure we can find you somewhere to park your car.
My Chim lives in a car park behind the flats where I live.

The lads at DC trim adviced me to stay at the premier inn. It was a 5 min walk from bristol ave and 5min walk to the sea front.
Ample parking and cctv cameras all over + a night porter I left mine there and it was ok plus I got a good nights sleep.
Walked into Blackpool from the hotel took about 45mins but there is transport to take you in to the centre if you want.
