Could have been so much worse, but lets's hope that this doesn't curtail future, safer drives of the real thing with the flat 12 engine!! Click here for video!

Er doesn't nearly kill him does it? Blimey you should try walking round parts of London during rush hour if you want to see near miss's.

Presume you must have worked for the News of the World with such a dramatic headline

Thought I was watching in slow motion at first, not sure who's reactions are worse, the driver or spectator.

Click here for video!I think your title is a little extreme (as are your negative comments on the other thread for this event). If you said nearly killed a lamp post then that would have been more accurate

Yes the headline is a tad over dramatic. That said I was stood very close to the spot from where the video was taken and was a bit alarmed to see those 911's parked in the line of fire of any potential mishap and even more alarmed to see all those spectators lining the outside of the bend !!
Kind of had the feeling that something like that might happen when the owner handed the car over to the guy with the mic, thankfully his spin lead to nothing worse than embarrasment and possible under wear change on his behalf, but it could have been a whole lot more serious...

A rather dramatic thread title I think, I was waiting for a second car to come round the corner and wipe them all out.

Interesting how most people regard outside of bend as dangerous, and inside as safe. In fact understeer (both lift off variety, and heavy right foot / slippy surface) results in car normally going off into the INSIDE of the exit of the bend. As ably demonstrated here. I used to work on the World Rally Championship and regularly saw people caught out by this.

How much is that old banger worth then? Is it based on a beetle or something? Who was driving? The owner or a guest? ETA - Who's that leaning on Melvs car? Melv? If not, that's nice of him.

I don't know who the driver was, but I assume that the incident took place on Saturday? If so it explains why the same chap, who was acting as commentator/auctioneer/general announcer on Sunday was so cautious in insisting that specators were well out of the way when the 917 was doing demo runs. I thought at the time he was going a bit over the top,but I now understand what he was frightened of. I don't think he drove again on Sunday!

worthy candidate for the "bad parking thread" and also for the "one thing that makes you think Knob" thread...
Sounds epic and looks amazing though...

I reckon it was due to all those 964's, there must of been gallons of oil on the track if they had been around it beforehand

I'm not sure what the driver expected to happen with that throttle input mid corner!!
A bit silly given the value of the car and the number of people about.
