Question is should I bother, seen 2 kits on eBay for sale by rpi engineering, fist is cylinder head rebuild kit, valves, seals etc and the other is a complete camshaft kit , with choice of cam, gaskets, timing chain, lifters, and shim kit.

The car runs great, but feels a little "rough" at higher rpm, it has done 47k, but last 5 years prior to me owning it only done 500/600 miles a year. I have heard this can wear the cam faster than normal use.

Any advice on a) should I spend £600 if nothings wrong or is it a wise invest to refresh the car and b) any one got a stealth cam fitted, they offer others 285 etc, but the stealth sounds closest to original as I like the way the car drives.

Also c) do I need to change anything else , upgrade engine wise.
the car has act induction, carbon trumpets, heat isolator gasket and mark Adams chip. Would I need to have chip remapped after swapping cam?

Thanks

Ive got one of their Piper 270 cams fitted to my Ginetta 3.9, and personally I would not recommend it- it appears that both the 270 and 285 cams can run on standard valve springs so the lift is limited, so it wont maximise your breathing potential. The 270 is a pretty soft cam, it idles very nicely and the power delivery is very linear, but lacks the punch of say an MC1 as it comes on cam.
