Hi All,
After singing the praises of my 2.9 s2 to a colleague at work yesterday, what happens on the way home(at midnight!)
The throttle cable snaps at the pedal end.
I know, I know, I should have learnt not to tempt fate by now hehe
Changing the inner cable only must be preferable to changing the whole thing so, is it just a matter of buying a sierra 2.9 cable and replacing the pedal end nipple with a universal type nipple(is there enough cable length to do this?) or is there other stuff I need to know?.

Have tried the search function but it seems to be "under maintenance". Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Andy. thumbup

There is a thread on here (somewhere, not too long ago)about repairing snapped cables using bycycle brake cable and similar and think there was also mention of a company who can re-make cables (but not cheap).

Found it...... clicky

Many Thanks Mike, that was the thread I was thinking about. Looks like its rummaging time in the local motor factors hehe

Cheers Andy

While you're at it, it's worth making sure the throttle cable is correctly aligned with the pedal where it comes through the bulkhead, and make sure the pedal isn't adjusted up too high as this will force the inner to kink. After repeated failures here I found that the life of the cable improved dramatically when I opened out the inside of the ferule to form a bellmouth so that the inner can follow a gradual curve instead of kinking at the pedal. Probably the biggest improvement though was fitting a throttle stop, which took about two inches of travel out of the pedal (I was just stretching the cable). It's very easy to do just by screwing a spacer to the floor under the pedal (I used a short tube with 'top hat' end fittings designed to be used to make a towel rail).
