I am also in the process of drafting my own negative experiences with PCM sat nav on my 981.
Is it possible to change this thread to read: 981/991 Sat Nav ?

Yes, but please correct me if I'm wrong ..... your TomTom is an ungainly box stuck to the windscreen that trails cables across the dash. There are ways of dealing with out of date subscriptions, but I prefer and enjoy the integrated approach.I am amazed.

Picked up my 991S on Saturday. Only gripe so far is the lack of full postcode entry on the nav. Flabbergasted! Am I missing something?
Its surprising for sure, Audi offer full post code search on there HD based Nav, not sure why Porsche cant? I think BMW do tooThough to counter that I have 5 digit entry on my Gen 2 Cayman and have always found it pretty good, worst case I do a quick google maps check on my phone and find a street in close proximity that is showing up in the car. Not ideal, but it works.
Was in my local OPC this morning and saw a flyer for the Nav update, I'm sure it included the current 991, !!!!, I didn't read it all as it was for the 2009 - 2012 models Porsche's
Could this be a fix for the issue, seems a very expensive one and a slap in the face to new 991/981 owners if it is!!!
Edited for correct Nav update dates

Cannot understand why Porsche don't outsource Nav like they do with Audio etc. The companies like tomtom etc aren't the greatest but neither are Bose and Burmeister.
If they don't want to just add a yearly subscription fee to the purchase price of the car for updates. But if the updates are so few and far between and the Nav is crap why bother.
For the 9x7 series in Japan OPCs have to fit aftermarket double din Nav units to get Japanese maps anyway. Not sure about 9x1 series though. But you can see Porsche are just playing catchup here as maps are a lot of work to maintain.
