Porsche batteries

Having owned 8 Porsches over the years I've come to the conclusion that their batteries are CR4P. Three years old and they run out of puff. The cars do get used and when sitting in the garage are always connected to a battery conditioner. My 997 GT2 was first registered March 2009 and it had it's battery replaced under warranty within three years (warranty claim F.O.C.). It has now gone again but because I didn't pay for it and it was done under warranty I am not covered now even though I have extended warranty. I understood that everything you buy has a 12 month gurantee in law but because it was done under warranty and I didn't pay it has no cover after three years. Porsche obviously like to keep their long standing customers happy so they've offered to sell me one at cost + fitting. Oh and that would be another cr4ppy Porsche battery. No thanks I'll do the same as always and get a decent BOSCH battery installed. Pretty PI55ED off that after all these years their batteries are still such a rubbish product.

Warranty was extended (+2 years) and doesn't run out until 2013!Contract law applies.

It was discussed with my OPC and they said that they would honour and extend the warranty even if I installed a decent battery (BOSCH). The Porsche warranty puzzles everyone including the OPC's
I don't see why it should puzzle anyone. The distinct advantages of insisiting on all Porsche parts being that Porsche controls the quality, they don't get presented with problems caused by incompatible equipment and most importantly they get to sell parts to a captive market. For Porsche, what is not to like about insisting that a warrantied car is only maintained with Porsche parts?

That's not quite correct; everything you buy from a trader must be of merchantable quality. If you feel wronged by paying good money for a car battery that you would reasonably expect to last longer than a couple of years under normal conditions of use, then you may have recourse to secure a replacement/repair/refund under the SoGA.'The Sale of Goods Act 1979 is the main piece of legislation helping buyers to obtain redress when their purchases 'go wrong'. It is in the interest of anyone who sells goods or services to understand the implications of the Act for them and the responsibilities they have under it.
Essentially, the Act states that what you sell must fit its description, be fit for its purpose and be of satisfactory quality. If not, you - as the supplier - are obliged to sort out the problem.'

It's not Bosch. Don't know what make but it is dire. Change to a Bosch with a warranty and you won't look back as they don't fail in the way the overpriced Porsche ones do.
If this is correct I must be mistaken. OPC told me the Porsche and Bosch batteries are the same apart from the name. cslwannabe said:

Yep. 800CCA. It really cranks the engine over quickly. And cost £90 delivered with the 15% off eurocarparts always seem to offer on batteries. 
When I bought my '86 SSE 2 years ago it had a Porsche battery fitted, after 2 months it failed, found the reciept in the service file and it was only 2 years and 2 months old, rang local OPC and was told warranty only 2 years on all parts including battery ! Bought a mid range Bosch from Halfords for less than £60 (got a discount card) and it comes with a 4 year warranty, so why can't Porsche give a 4 year warranty ?
