I didn't think they made spiders until late 06.. and that was the 07 model year. I stand to be corrected.

I think everyone knows about this, it is very well known, the recall was over 5 years ago, no idea why it has suddenly re-appeared everywhere now, slow news day? Someone having a pop at Lamborghini maybe?

So why have Lamborghini written to owners in the past couple of days?

No idea, but the dealers have been doing the mod for years, just type it in google and look for the 2006/7 results. I believe it has been discussed on here as well several years ago. I think they were doing it as an update rather than a full on safety recall though.

Why should a US recall apply to UK cars ?

Its quite possible RHD cars are not affected and/or its been handled over the years without a recall

Effects rhd and lhd cars. The pipe ruptures close to the exhaust manifold. They modified them a few years ago because of this known issue though, but I believe it was an update rather than a recall. Perhaps the later type pipes are now failing. Don't expect it to be a quick job either, that pipe is one piece from the back of the car to the front, and you have to strip lots out of the tunnel to replace it.....

Ok, so that explains a lot.

In any case, it's not an official recall and for those not in the know get in touch with a dealer!

Hi,yeah lots of work.If your lucky and have front lifting gear it`s a short hose that goes from the pump to a modual which is in front of the left rear wheel, behind the inner wheel tub.

About a year ago the power steering pipe burst on my old 05 Gallardo, on phoning a Lambo dealership I was quoted an astronomical amount to get it replaced, they didnt mention any recall at that time. I got Mike Pullen of Carerra sport to do the job, I think it cost Couple of hundred quid.

No recall on the VOSA website either...

http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/default.a...

I think that news site doesn't understand the differance between a service action and a recall.

Seperate topic, but there are quite a few Ferrari recalls that I've never heard of (not that I would have I guess), might be worth a look if you are an owner.

If they did it when they got the car in for something else, rather than him receiving a letter asking him to take it in, that's a service action, not a recall.

Different level of severity.
