POTW: Ferrari 599XX

Were you at the Ferrari Racing Days Sunday Service? If so, you'll be wanting this

Last week 700 of you kindly joined us at the rather splendid Ferrari Racing Days Sunday Service at Silverstone, and judging by the post-event thread you all enjoyed it as just much as we did.

One of the PHers in attendance was Gary John, otherwise known as ImDesigner, who offered us this cracking shot of a 599XX taken on the day. Those of us who were there won't forget the noise these things make on downshifts, loud isn't descriptive enough, but we're thankful these cars exist and that we got a chance to see them up close. If you were unable to attend, make it one of your life goals to hear an XX in anger, you won't regret it.

You can download this weeks POTW wallpaper using the links below, but don't blame us when your colleagues look at you strangely as you attempt to make downchange noises while you look at it.

If you want to submit a Picture Of The Week please feel free to do so. 'Free' being the operative word. Payment is non-existent (at least we're honest) but you'll see your name in lights on PH and that is almost guaranteed to bring fame and fortune. Well, maybe not, but we'll all be very grateful indeed.

Enjoy the weekend and thanks to Gary for submitting the image.

Awesome pic! I spent a lot of the day trying to get pictures with the front discs glowing, on the 599 and FXX. If you would like some more, just holla, half are edited now

Anyone got a half-decent video of one of these monsters? I love how totally insane they look, even if they're a bit of a gimmick. Those side-exit zorsts are immense. biggrin

My favourite car in the XX programme is number 27. That blue was incredible. Dr Mannetino I believe was the drivers name. cool

If the photographer is here, can we have a decent resolution for those of us who aren't stuck on tiny monitors?

Looks like a Supra with a horrible bodykit and a big 455 wing.

I always felt they were just rich kids track toys and was one of the people to say "what a waste. Look what you could get for the money". Having seen them run I'm a convert. They make the F1 car look and sound limp wristed... It was painful to hear them running.

Try running a Macbook Pro Retina biggrin

Apple-friendly resolutions would be nice, yes.

Which is why Historic F1 is the way to go - I miss on-the-edge V12s and V10s.

Brilliant pic. They made an epic noise, How does one go about finding when they'll next be in the UK. I can always find time for an eargasm. cool
