That's from all the butt clenching they do, while they are listening for the sound of the hand grenade under their bonnet, to go bang.

mine were dead easy to fit. The speakers in the headrests is probably the best improvment, I know normally you don't need any music on, but being able to hear it clearly right behind your head is VERY nice on long drives.
unbolt original runners (4 x 13mm heads) then the front two holes line up with the mx5 seats, you need to drill two new rear holes and then bolt to the mx5 seats. Then just put back in the car, with spacers/risers if needed, but they are slightly higher than standard anyway.

I'll be fitting MX5 seats this winter (inspired by your thread) and have just begun stripping them down for repair and re-colouring using Furniture Clinic products.unbolt original runners (4 x 13mm heads) then the front two holes line up with the mx5 seats, you need to drill two new rear holes and then bolt to the mx5 seats. Did you wire in the headrest speakers to the rear speaker output from the head unit?

I have an amp in the back running them, so you have 4 wires, (L+R pos+neg) out from the Amp, spliced the left to go left speakers and right to right. or you could do the same thing from the headunit but you need to work out the ohms of the speakers and what your headunit will run, most headunits won't run at 2ohms Did you wire in the headrest speakers to the rear speaker output from the head unit?

Bolting bits of MX5 onto a TVR?????? I know TVR's were a bit of a parts bin special but pulleeeze. It'll be cup holders from a Clio next.
I'd be happy as a pig in poop if I could get a decent cup holder fixed somewhere in reach of the drivers seat! I've actually considered removing the stereo to fit one there...brett84 said:

That's the information that I was looking for ... Do you know the differences physically between the Mk 1, Mk 2, Mk 2.5 and Mk 3 seats? Is there anywhere that you can recommend to get leather seats that won't rush me for £500? :-)unbolt original runners (4 x 13mm heads) then the front two holes line up with the mx5 seats, you need to drill two new rear holes and then bolt to the mx5 seats. I was thinking of getting fabric seats and then a set of £200 leather covers...

Can you recolour a darker seat to be a lighter colour? Ideally I could do to get my seats in a dark blue but the options seem to be black or beige / cream / tan with black being most common ... Not sure whether black would look out of place in a blue interior.Did you wire in the headrest speakers to the rear speaker output from the head unit?

Changing colour from black to blue on leather seats should not be a problem.I'm part way through re-colouring my vinyl interior with the Furniture Clinic products. So far, so good.
I've changed the centre console & door tops from doeskin to magnolia and the door bottoms & dashboard from doeskin to black.
The leather MX5 seats I've aquired will be changed from tan to magnolia.
Even rubbing a re-coloured vinyl area with a screwdriver has failed to remove the new finish, I'm confident the seats will be hard wearing. I have used Furniture Clinic's Adhesion Promotor and Cross Linker X which were recommended for high wear and vinyl areas.

Yeah - there's a couple of eBay sellers doing replacement leather covers for about £200...
They probably won't be hard to fit either...
If they are the same covers I looked at, they are "leather effect" and I've read on MX-5 forums that neither the fit nor quality are very good. They probably won't be hard to fit either...
