Sanyo projector not working
Discussion
I've got a second hand Pro Xtrax multiverse projector that has been working fine for ages but has recently stopped working properly. It powers up ok, and when plugged into my computer displays as it should for about 30 seconds then the display goes blue. The only way to get it to display again is to turn it off, wait until it has powered down fully and try again, 30 seconds of display and back off. Anyone shed any light on something I can do or do I need a new projector?

It sounds like it could be the Sanyo PLC-XU38 so these are the maximum resolutions:-
Display: Type: 2 cm 3 LCD
Native: 1024x768 Pixels
Maximum: 1280x1024 Pixels
Aspect Ratio: 4:3 (XGA)
Your MAC is probably trying to output a higher resolution, possibly 1080p HD. The projector will try to lock onto the signal and down scale the image. If it can't lock on fully it will give up and the screen goes blue.
First thing to do is connect the MAC and press the 'Auto' button on the handset or select it from the picture menu (not exactly sure where it will be but you should find something like that) If that fails then you need to lower the output resolution on the MAC so the projector can 'see' the picture timing signals.
If you can set the MAC output to a video resolution like 1080i or 720P you might get it to lock, if not use a computer resolution like 1024x768. If you want to watch movies in full HD you need a new projector!
Have fun.
