Hi, I'm new to the forum so please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place. I am hoping someone can help me with my problem, here goes:
I have a 2002 semi-automatic Corsa, all was fine until about 4 months ago when it would not start and I was getting a flashing 'F' on the dashboard. Local garage took it away, said they replaced the battery and cleaned some tubes and got it going. Three or four days later it would not start again with the same problem, they never came back to fix it. I have no mechanic knowledge so had to best guess, I should say it would not start with a jump or attaching a charger. I removed the battery and fully charged it, put it back in and it went again for a few days. I got my alternator checked and it's ok. So this has happened every few days now. But three of the last four times is when I have just stopped at lights etc, not when starting the car. It seems weird that if I fully charge the battery it goes ok for a while. Does anybody have an idea what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance smile

It could be the crank position sensor. Google vauxhall corsa flashing f, plenty of similar topics to get you started.

Thanks for the reply, after a bit of googling this afternoon other people have also said it could be the crank position sensor. Until last week I thought it was only failing when trying to start, but as it is just cutting out when I stop or starting up this is similar to another post I read that said it was the crank position sensor. I think they are about £20 (in my price range at the moment) so worth a try.

The two most common causes of the dreaded F symbol on corsas fitted with the easytronic gearbox are

Crank sensor (already mentioned above)

Blown brake light bulbs

Hi Wolf1, thanks for the reply, I saw a thread today about the blown brake lights, tested them today and they are ok, I'm hoping now it's just the crank sensor as it seems to common. I will post back when replaced with update.

Well I suppose that's one way of stopping people driving with blown brake lights.

Just an update, replaced the crank sensor and so far it has not cut out on me, but a new problem has arise, there is a stutter/clicking noise now when driving until I go over about 26-30mph, I don't think it is in just one gear, wondering if maybe something got damaged when crank sensor was replaced?
Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi I have a 2005 Vauxhall cross easy tronic. It broke down other week and garage puts crank sensor on it and still no better. I have a friend that got delphsoftwere he has plugged it on but didn't connect to gearbox. So looked on web it said it the box and it worked. Took for test drive and driving forward is brill but when coming to a stop from gear 3 it judders and cuts out and the F appears on dash so I hit the box again and its fine

Any ideas please

Many thanks

Clutch actuator that’s positioned on top of the gearbox maybe. My friends Vivaro is playing up randomly selecting gears with that same gearbox.

ATP in Cannock and Sinspeed do a refurbishment for them apparently.
