Have Ferrari approached owners yet? I assume not as the car hasn't even been launched or formally announced

Was just interested to hear that a certain independent dealer is quoting cars available for a 1m premium? Hence I wondered whether that was rubbish or if some prospective owners have been contacted by Maranello. Clearly if they have I'd say they have asked the wrong people (in some cases).

Think it has been well discussed in the past

Basically in UK/Switzerland/US the dealers asked if people were interested and then put names into Head Office

Ferrari have some "new" policy which keeps on being talked about, that "good" customers have at least 5+ Ferraris of which two are current models and at least one special series car

I always got the impression that people who owned 599XX, FXX, race in the Challenge Series or are Corsa Clienti F1 automatically were allocated slots

Which dealer is suggesting they can supply a car?

No surprise. TH and Romans always get cars. But 1m premium????

You thought any more about the 250swb? The tdf at RM must be tempting.

Thought a lot about SWBs but probably missed the boat. Had a chance at a car earlier in the summer but even since then prices (asking) seemed to have moved on another notch. Crazy. It's never easy to find a genuine seller, of course most would sell at a 'you're kidding me' price. I don't want to be the guy on the other end of that deal though. To be honest they are at a point whereby I don't believe I'd get 3m or 4m pounds worth of enjoyment out of them. It is probably not worth thst to me now, at 3m I could just about get it but beyond that I am out. Clearly you need to be very very deep pocketed indeed to splash that on a car and not think twice. Also can these prices keep going up at this silly rate? Anyones guess. When they have appreciated so much so quickly it makes you worry there is a bubble and that takes half the argument away for getting involved at this level. For me at least it needs to make sense financially too. I couldn't confidently assume that I'd buy an SWB now and see more decent upside. Not once prices plateau and you have to pay a dealer 10% to get out of it. Of course we can argue this one till we are flying cars but....

So the strategy is now make some money and try and buy one when they are even more expensive! No kidding, will focus on the rarer modern stuff that is collectable, such as the Enzo replacement. I'm not a seller but at these prices they need to be half justifiable financial moves too.

It's not going to be shown to the public at Detroit, not unless Ferrari are bonkers.

I think there is something very alluring about owning the entire 288 -> F70 lineage.

Topjay where did that come from?

I've asked two dealers lately and neither of them have cars allocated so I find that hard to believe. Both are big dealers too.

Pretty good authority, friend, who has a lot of cars, like one of everything & races in several of the Ferrari championships.

Was not really listening 100% to the exact details of the conversation as i was feeling a little gutted not to mention poor as I would quite like one, it's a car you can't really lose on! I got a brick wall from Ferrari when i asked, with the implication like traxx says, that i needed to have a lot of cars from them to even be considered.

Anyway he said he had booked his airline tickets and would see the car there, but had already picked his colour, interior, etc, but had not seen the car.

All this chat of secret squirrel buyer lists and 'name any price' guaranteed buyers is good news for second buyers. We are in certain bubble territory again and those of us who remember the late 80s know what that means...

From what I'm told that's wrong: to be previewed at Geneva in March, and no specs have been possible yet because private previews haven't even happened yet

One thing is for sure, with the amount of differing opinions someone is right somewhere!

That's my understanding too. But I guess there'll be exceptions!

So, Paul Bailey then.

I had heard Detroit Show launch from a reliable source but Autocar this week suggests Shanghai in April with the car being available later in 2013. So who is right I wonder?

I wonder if they are affected by McLaren saying production P1 at Geneva and a wide expectation of the production 918 at Geneva too
