I haven't noticed a thread on this, so I thought I'd start one.

What are your opinions on the grandaughter of herbie? One word answers are acceptable, provided they come with some sort of smiley as well.

Better looking than the last incarnation.

Looks stupid with those wheels. Same ones as on the Scirocco?

I quite like it boxedin, although I wouldn't buy one with my own money.

Our local VW dealer has a white one parked outside and it seems to be on white steelies with chrome centre hubcaps. I think it looks quite cool.

Agreed. Yet it manages to remain extremely undesirable.

It's starting to morph into 911 shape. Again.

I quite like it. I saw a black one on the way to work this morning and thought it looks pretty cool. Wouldn't buy one, but yeah not bad.

Agree with both of you. Not a bad looking car but wouldn't have one.

I didn't like the 1st Gen new Beetle - but I actually do quite like the New New Beetle - the roofline and back end really seem to work well.

You can have it with the 2.0 turbo from the Golf GTi too...

They remind me of the newest MINI as compared to the older 'new' MINI, i.e. they are just that little bit less cutesy and resemble the car that they are harking back to that little bit less.

I saw a fleet of about 6 of them driving near Macclesfield just over 10 months ago. However, I don't think I've seen more than one on the road since then. confused

not too keen , just looks out of proportion

not to worry

it'll be the design for the Porsche 911 in about 50 years

the front looks wrong... I think they've somehow managed to copy the sirocco / golf front end... the angular bits dont work with the curves.

also i detest trying to use past glory to sell a car, despite the car it pays homage (if it does at all) being crap, the only good thing about it was it was cheap, and the latest incarnation puts a premium on looking a bit like what was effectively a crap car from the 1940s.

car made for people who think 'cutesy' is a word. grumpy

Agree.

Continuing the theme that the Beetle and 911 share a tiny amount of DNA, here is an example of a RS Beetle
