Anyone picked up there's yet? Is it as good as the reviews say?

Had mine for nearly 5 months and yes, I'd say it is every bit as good as the reviews say it is.

Ask me in 18 months, got one on order...had a 458 italia and that was epic. Was uming and ar'ing over the F12 or spider, decided spider as I have always liked the 'open air'since the 355...and for me the 458 is quite fast enough
long long long wait...still something to look forward too...
Seem to be still very rare with big prices on them, which bodes well!

Saw a 458 Spider up close last night. Third Spider in two weeks. Sorry, the back shelf doesn't work for me at all. Completely lacks the tension of the Italia. Disappointing. Last night there was a DBS Volante next to the Spider. Made the Spider look soft.

Hard to believe that a car which hasn't been built yet won't get the 2012 upgrade. Ask your dealer to make sure. My coupe is at the dealer as we speak. That's obviously just been built, it does have the upgrade.
The other spider mentioned is 5 months old + so that might explain why it doesn't have the upgrade.
Unless someone knows something I don't I can't think why all new 458 won't have the upgrade from now?

Think it was just software for gearbox etc. I saw the car the other day and the only difference I could see was the steering column is now manual adjust! Picking up Thurs so will let you know if I notice any difference at all. Doubt I will.
Interesting that I also noticed how high the car looks, the gap in the front wheel arch is much larger than on my last one. Ferrari have confirmed its within their 150mm tolerance levels. Amazing they have such a high range of variance but there you go. Rather than buggering about its going straight to a team that prepares cars for the Ferrari Challenge and British GT, they are going to check all the geometry and set up. I reckon it's a much better bet getting a race team to sort it than a service department engineer/mechanic. I doubt they even have a flat floor?

The spider is not getting the revised gearshift software as Ferrari are aiming it a different customer. They are trying to differentiate between coupe and spider by giving the coupe a harder edge through reinstating the feeling of the old F1 box by having the gears bang home in race mode to give you that kick in the back feel. Both my coupes were 2010 and 2011 models so I've never experienced the revised shift in the 2012 coupe therefore don't miss it. The spider has the same shift pattern as the coupe from those model years. The exhaust on the spider is also supposedly quieter though with the roof down or the roof up and rear window down it sounds much louder to my ears.
