Sky box decided to throw up the "no signal, please switch off" message and after leaving it unplugged from mains for a while, it's still the same. Having had this before & replaced the box to resolve I sourced a replacement Sky box but it's exactly the same, so I figure it's a problem with the cable or dish? Does anyone know how I can test the cable in the house to see if it's getting a signal - is there a tool you can use for this?

Cable to dish is probably 30ft long, but it's wrapped in piping all the way through the garden so hoped that would protect adequately.

Could be either:

1. Cable
2. LNB
3. Box

Two cables connected ie Sky+ ?

Have you checked the signal quality within settings to check that the box is not receiving a signal from either cable?

Thanks for replies chaps, I've tried a couple of other boxes and same symptom - no signal. So it's either cable or dish - but how do I test which one is the culprit?

Mine started doing this and it turned out to to be the connector on the end of the cable not being fitted correctly. Just removed and refitted it and all has been well since.

Usually the LNB, (End bit of dish) theyre quite cheap to get but get a pro to do it as the dish is sensitive to movement, Also they will test the lnb you have to determine signal strength

Had this issue too after leaving my box. Turned out to be the dish.

Checking the dish alignment is easy. See here http://www.sky4caravans.co.uk/how_to_install_your_...

Mine occasionally gets moved by the wind, it's easy to fix. I got an app for my iPhone that helps with the alignment https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dishpointer-ar-pro...
