But you'll need to place the order over the phone to get a custom width plate to perfectly fit the recess in the front bumper.
To keep it legal, I kept the height of my plate the same as a standard plate and only reduced the width to fit the recess. As such, the bottom of my plate hangs below the recess but I don't think this detracts aesthetically. This also allowed me to use normal road legal font, character sizing and spacing’s.

Some pics here
I used the same dimensions for my rear plate too as I think it looks nicer to have the same sized plate front and back, but that's just my opinion. I also selected the domed black text as I think it looks cool and is also completely road legal.

Craigs plates for me too. My plate fits nicely into the front bumper recess made to fit. Because the car is an import, the number plate regulations do not apply according to VOSA and the DVLA documentation.
How does that work then? The VXR8 was sold by Vauxhall as a UK model surely? mik_ok said:

Ooooh - interesting.
Mine isn't a std plate, but it is a "current format" 7-character design.
So can I have a plate made up to suit the recess, with a smaller character set? And it is still legal?
Yes, you have to use motorcycle size and font. Best to carry a copy of the legislation in your glovebox too. Mine isn't a std plate, but it is a "current format" 7-character design.

But you are so much more efficient Gary
So - having tried search to no avail - does anyone know what dimensions of plate fits "just peachy" in the std front recess on a VXR8? Once I know this I can speak to Craigsplates.... thanks guys.
That is just being bone idle. Get a tape measure out, and measure it on your car! So - having tried search to no avail - does anyone know what dimensions of plate fits "just peachy" in the std front recess on a VXR8? Once I know this I can speak to Craigsplates.... thanks guys.
