...and F348 GTB.
Looking through the reserve prices on these does make you wonder quite where some of the dreamers get their asking prices from.

I tried to buy the car holding DMC328S in preparation for a planned purchase of a 328GTS, but the owner wouldn't sell the plate or in fact the car for less than four times what I believed to be its true value! In the end I didn't get the Ferrari after all so I look back that the stubborn woman actually saved me money.

I often wonder how legal it can be for the DVLA to offer plates that only have value when the characters are squeezed up or doctored with in some way, almost all of these ways of course being illegal. For example (one of many) MS51 NDY. If you bought that one and made it read MS SINDY (which I presume is the idea), could you refer any interested policemen to the DVLA, and blame them for selling it to you with this clear intent in mind?

They have in the small print that you are purchasing the plate as it is, not to re-represent it as something else.

On the subject of Ferrari relevant number plates i had a double take today at a Morrisons petrol forecourt.
A Honda CRV was wearing the plate 550. No letters, no nothing just 550.

Pork said: reserve prices bear NO resemblance to sale price. This. I bought a plate in auction of which there is an almost identical one in this auction. I paid nearly 10 times the reserve and I am sure this one will achieve a very similar price, just as all the others have. I really have no idea why the DVLA don't just put up a more sensible reserve/guide price as they know there are loads of dealers in the room who will bid it up to nearer fair value anyway.

Im sure i have seen this on a 512bb before for sale, for a tad over 100,000, including plate so considering the car itself was very well looked after and it was the motor show car, i cant really see it being worth anymore than ten at most.

I bought one from a DVLA auction a few years back now and from memory it was about 2.5 times the reserve. Only mention it as it would almost be a good plate for you if the 'A' on it was an 'F' for you!
