We just changed the battery after noticing it was labouring slightly when starting and the lights were dimming a little more than they used to.

Looking at the receipts, it was just over ten years old, a pretty good run!

It was a 'Super start' fitted in an E36.

I had the factory battery still in my old car last year until that really bad few weeks of snow and cold weather finished it off, so that would have been 10 years

Yup, 10 years too out of the Hondas OEM battery. Impressive considering how many times it was left to go flat and then boosted!

About the same out of my Fiesta. Around the time I realised I was subconsciously parking nose-out at the top of any incline I could find, I decided to get a new battery.

Bugger. With a 2003 Volvo and a 2004 Mondeo on the drive that's 2 batteries we'll be needing over the next 2 years.

Two of my last 3 vars needed new batteries at 5 years old - E61 525d and MX-5. Both were struggling to start the car in cold weather.
The battery in my 911 died completely - one cell down. It appears to be the original - 20 years old!

Would be 13 years in Feb but starting to have to crank it a little longer as this temp drops.

That's impressive, the salesman reckoned anything over the 3 year warranty was a bonus.

BMW might do quite well here because they're usually in the cabin somewhere, so they don't get so cold.

My MINI one is 10 years old and has survived being flat for 6 months twice. It is in the boot, so maybe drier and less temperature variation than in the engine bay.

99% sure my '96 MX5 was on it's original battery when I sold it in 2011 - so 15 years old.

Was still starting with no hesitation on the day I sold it.

The one in my Rover is the original I think. The car was bought in 2000 by my mum so is at least 12 years old.
It loses charge in cold weather and has done for the past 3 years so may be nearing time for a new one.

Wow, I though I'd done well, but seems modern batteries are good all round.

My Dad bought a new Mk. 4 Fiesta in 1998, I inherited it in 2006, and ran it until I sold it last year.

Still with original battery - I think it was a 'Motorcraft' brand if memory serves me correctly. And when I sold it, it had no indication of stopping working well at all.

So for me - 13 years.

Mazda 3 MPS.

Just shy of 3 years. Left it drained for a week and AA recommended replacing it. Was travelling again for a couple of weeks a few days later so decided to take the hit rather than trickle charge (plus I had to get to work!).

Octavia vRS - got shot of the car at 9 years old. Pretty sure original battery.
