I dont know if any of you are looking for a good winter cover but came across one of these at a customers house the other day housing his brand new 981, next time i will get pictures as my storage was full on my iphone. Cracking bit of kit if you dont have a garage.

Can you please share details of the manufacturer? I would certainly be interested in more details and photographs at this stage. Thanks.

There is a number on the bottom of the brochure. Got to say it was a good idea looked just like my THULE EXCELLENCE roof box and that cost me £800 for something 20 times smaller. I get fed up of washing mine leaving it outside for a bit and then it rains and leaves and crap get all over it.

At first i thought, "what a great idea!" and then I realised you could get a covered trailer for that kind of money and kill 2 birds with one stone...

Like the cover but still very expensive.

I have a specialisedcar cover and whilst it is very well designed to fit the car, I still find it too much of a hassle to use week to week and am likely to use just over the harsh winter when snow/freezing temperatures is due.

The cover only takes a few minutes to put on / take off, but the biggest issue (oddly) is that if the cover is wet, taking it off means you have to then put it on the washing line to dry which isn't particularly easy given the size and the need to keep away from touching the floor. Also, the spiders just love to get inside, which doesn't bother me, but don't particularly want to roll the cover up and put inside the house (the cat already gets bored of the massive field spiders!). Wish I had a garage frown

Thats just what the guy said who bought one.

He said he had sports cars in the past and lost count of how many covers he had bought in the past.

Pro's to this are as he said.
You can go for a hoon and put your car away dirty - A cover would scratch your car with all the dirt left on it.
2 second to drive in - get out and pull the lid down - A cover you would have to go fetch - stretch out and faff about fitting.
it is more secure as he has a wireless alarm linked to his house alarm plus it is lockable and he saves money on his insurance - A cover is no form of security as he said he had his tyres punctured once on his driveway.
If you have a garage you still have a spare garage as he had a lovely Ducati in his single garage.
It can be attached to a trailer to double up as a race transporter if you are into that sort of thing.
It is mobile and so if you move house you can simply take it with you.

I cant really see any cons myself other than if you dont like the look of the thing sat on your driveway and thats just like most family saloons.

I actually like the idea quite a lot.. Would be ideal for an off street parking for example.. If neighbours let you get away with the questionable looks that is..

Totally agree covers are a pain as you can use them only if the car is pristine which would mean only for long term storage.

Have a guy parking next to me in my carpark doing this on a weekly basis to his 8C. Clean or not clean.. Not sure he realises he's just doing much more harm than good to the poor beautiful beast..

Lol indeed if you were stupid enough to just park it up as is. Take the wheels off, stick a hitch lock on it, what's the difference except that when you do want a trailer all you have to do is stick the wheels back on again? That's just a trailer box without the wheels and hitch anyway.

Umpteen other ways of securing a trailer as well. You could drag that box or a car onto a flat back with a half decent winch as easily as you could a trailer with its wheels off and a hitch lock. No difference security wise.

I think your missing the point with this though.

It suits if :
a: you dont have or have room in your garage.
b: you want something small enough to fit into a normal car space that fits your car inside thats simple to use
c: you want peace of mind that nothing can happen to your car while it is locked away inside all be it a meteor strike from outer space.

If I could not get my car in my warehouse at work I would definetely buy one.

Im not missing the point at all, I completely get the point of it but seriously, its a trailer with no tow bar or wheels. What's the difference?

That box trailer can do a, b and c above simply because without wheels and with a hitch lock, its exactly the same product? All they have done is take a trailer and not bother finishing it.

This one is even closer, if a tad more money...

At least if the nicks the whole trailer you know when it's gone. My chum kept his Caterham in a box on the drive like the one above. Put it in in November, checked inside in January and it was gone...

And now for my next trick - You never know the geezer may just do a Thomas Crown and put it back when he is not looking.

I like the idea of it simply because it is small, which I suspect those without garages will be limited on drive space too, so would be a better alternative to a trailer which no doubt takes up more space. Not that bothered about the security aspect where I am, the car has an alarm so no different than having to leave it outside anyway, it is 100% to do with protecting from the elements, and as mentioned, being able to drive it back in dirty without the hassle of a cover that requires you to clean the car every time you go out.

The down side for me personally is price, and the fact I annoyingly have a garage that my car fits in, if it wasn't for my business which requires the garage to pay for the car...catch 22?!!?
