I think there are some towards the lower right hand side of the 1st island. The hunting picture looks more like a rhino though.
I found tapirs there, which sound like pigs but aren't boars.Silly question time: I can't see any "!" on my radar or map. I can't stray into a new red area as I'm being told I'm leaving the mission zone, but I can't see that I'm on a mission. There is nothing at all on my radar other ham the N symbol indicating north, and a radio tower which I've already unlocked.
Othe than hunting/crafting, I'm not being told to go here do this or that, as was the case yesterday - help!
I realised I might have had a quest, the blue skull on the map and the chap who needed to be stabbed, but I can't get the skull back either...
Edited to add: when I get close to the wanted dead icon, ie 40 seconds away on foot, it disappears. Putting a waypoint on the skull doesn't help as that disappears too, for no reason, I'm just jogging along well out of sight (can't even see the enemy yet) then poof, both icons disappear.
Edited again to add, it must have been a bug. The only way to get mission objectives back was to abandon the current mission with its disappearing mission marker.

No, it's not a bug. It's just very rubbish. Edited to add: when I get close to the wanted dead icon, ie 40 seconds away on foot, it disappears. As you get near a mission objective the marker does indeed disappear, but if you look at your minimap you'll see an irregular white area which is the general area of your mission, and your objective will be within that. I find that, before you get there, it is useful to set your map marker to that as well as then you get a useful "warmer/colder" type distance in metres to the objective.
Another thing that is very crap is that, if you are exploring and wander into a mission area (ie. the main story mission) then suddenly you are "on mission" and you HAVE to complete it. If you try to leave the area then you fail the mission. It's very, very rubbish for a sandbox game that encourages exploration.
Well got a few more missions done this evening.. Ink Monster - Really not hard at all, reminded me of any normal boss in an old school game - shoot and move, shoot and move... Killing Vaas - Bit of an anticlimax, and the dream sequences are getting really tiresome now! Just attempted the mission where you defend Willis while he repairs the plane but failed it 3/4 way through. Might have to attempt with a heavy machine gun, bloody tons of them everywhere.
Can't believe I'm only half way through, the first island is enough for a game upon itself.

There's one right next to the plane for a start That handles the waves coming from down the runway (out of the forest to the left), but doesn't turn around enough to cope with jeeps of guys pulling up to your right. I found a grenade launcher was the best bet for them.

Hah, I'll know for next time! I have a grenade launcher but not much ammo sadly and I have a feeling I'm just going to keep getting dumped at that checkpoint. That handles the waves coming from down the runway (out of the forest to the left), but doesn't turn around enough to cope with jeeps of guys pulling up to your right. Now that I've finished the game I can't seem to let it go, so am finishing up side quests. I also thought it would be amusing to carry a repair tool as one of my weapons slots and randomly drive around and stop whenever I see a broken-down vehicle and repair it. Ungrateful sods never thank you though.
Edit: Oh, my mistake. You need to interact with them first, then they ask you if you can fix their car. And after you have, you interact with them again and they say "thanks".
Edit2: Or you can burn them with the repair tool until they burst into flames and then die. Either works.

Got this for Xmas. I'm like 2 hours in, just crafted the 4 weapon holster. Have got the predator pack, so keep getting snuck up on by tigers. Really enjoying it so far. Being able to do as you wish in a survival type situation, sneaky or loud. Lots of fun. Can't wait to get a proper sesh in.
There goes the last 2 days then. I've had this for a while but the OH is always about, but she's been away, and I think i've clocked up about 12 hours in the last 2 days. Almost at the end I think, but also only have 6 outposts to go, which I think is my favourite bit. I've made sure I've done just about every takedown possible, I love selecting the right takedown combination for the situation. I think the best thing I've done is a takedown followed by another takedown followed by a knife takedown, and nobody saw me.
Great game, would game again.

Thanks for this. I though I was going mad. Climbing towers isn't a great deal of fun, and I found not being able to carry much ammo equally frustrating until I'd castrated those wild boar scrotes for an updated ammo pouch.
A sea with big waves like waverace on the N64 would have been my preference over the calm shiny one. Thermals and photography missions from the sky would have been the cherry on the otherwise limited flying cake, or perhaps an airstrip and a microlight, the flying is fun, but its not really an integral part of the game, is it.
I'm certainly not grumping - the game is enormous fun! I'd buy it again - I remember playing and loving the original, what feels like more than 10 years ago!

technique - sprint past all of the 'ghost' Vaas's, using medical syringes to stay alive. its not far until you get to the real Vass on a podium, then its easy.
that didn't work for me. My sprint key doesn't seem to work in dream sequences. I suspect there is a bug where the keyboard re-mappings revert. I wouldn't be surprised. Anyway, the technique I used was to push forward whilst firing, then fall back to reload. A case of "3 steps forward and 2 steps back". You get there in the end but it is tedious and time-consuming.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
