It's on youtube already...
The F40 is well known on Fchat - made the news when a mechanic bent it. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/288gto-f40-f50-en...
Was hoping to watch it on Discovery rather than sitting next to the PC to watch it The F40 is well known on Fchat - made the news when a mechanic bent it. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/288gto-f40-f50-en...

Looks like his mate who has plenty of cash to splash is in on the deal
Rawlings is worth cicra $8MCollins is worth around $20M
How did he make his money?
I remember him from Gumball3000 the movie and he seemed to be quite well off in that. He had spent a fortune on his truck and was winning just about every stage.

IIRC the 8m figure quoted wasn't based on accounts, more of a guess worth.
They all come across as likeable guys, makes for a great show.

I gather (but it's obviously not confirmed) he ran a printing firm somewhere which he subsequently sold off.I remember him from Gumball3000 the movie and he seemed to be quite well off in that. He had spent a fortune on his truck and was winning just about every stage.
Related note: He and Collins did the NY to LA record run in a F550 for a $50K bet!

Faster than Alex Roy and without the months and months of planning. Just got in and went. Makes Roy's OCD seems a bit daft!
AS above, he comes across really well. Far better than Boyd Coddington or any of the Chopper numpties. (Look into the Chopper build off competition if you get the chance)

Yep, gotta agree with that.
Not sorry to see the back-end of OCC.
Boyd had some good guys working there. Lee Hayes used to make me chuckle and Charlie (charley?) was great in the bodyshop. I see he was on Chasing Classic Cars recently.

its all good fun . cannot wait to see what happens with the f40 . of course it will be repaired but will they make any money ? it will probably be like OCC . read somewhere that they made millions from the t-shirts and hats they sold on the back of the tv show so they can afford to lose a bit of cash on the occasional car
ETA it might be Bert

Can you expand on the last bit?
Read thishttp://thescreamingtruth.com/?p=63
Then go on Youtube to find some of the videos related to it
My boss has met him a couple of times and I'm informed his on/off camera personas are completely different people. Alex Roy's book tells you a fair bit about the chap as well (but Aaron is the star of the show for me!).
The sort of chap you'd invite to the reception but not the ceremony

He was regarded as one of the best painters out there by boyd and then went to paint for chip foose so must have been good!
Hutton still is, he's painting the best cars in the USA still. He painted this car that won the Ridler this year (Ridler is probably the award to win). If you remember Hutton left Boyds to paint a Foose car (that also won Ridler).
2013 Ridler Winner:
Car built by http://www.calautocreations.com/ <- Very impressive site and the work is utterly top notch. The owner is a guy called Andy Leach who used to work for Troy Trepanier at RadRides.
If you don't know rad rides, check them out - seriously impressive stuff. They won ridler with a car called 'First Love'
Hutton went home to his native Idaho and set up his own company called Charley Hutton's Color Studio. Last I heard he literally had people queuing up with cars for him to paint.
Earlier in this thread I was pretty dismissive of Fast & Loud, the reason for that is when you look at the work that Rad Rides, Foose, Brizio, Alloway, Johnsons Hot Rods, Dave Kindig etc are doing F&L all looks a bit slap dash.

I wouldn't say that's fair to dismiss GMG on that basis. They have a totally different approach, budgets etc to their creations than the likes of Foose.
Gotta say, I appreciate the work they all do, even West Coast Customs, although not quite my taste.
I guess you're right, F&L just do what guys all over America (actually, the world) are doing in their own garages, except those guys don't lose a stack of cash at auction There isn't really anything amazing about what they do.
I'd probably be more interested if we saw the bloke with the ridiculous beard getting free reign to build rods/use whatever parts than be constrained by the cars/budget/parts the owner dude gives him.
New overhaulin is running in the states now, hopefully will come here soon. It ain't perfect, but I like the design aspect and that you get to see some of the work being done.
There is an old episode where they cut the snot out f a '56 Chevy at Wyotech and a very early episode where they grafted '55 chevy headlight brows in to a GMC truck + a bunch of other stuff. The truck they did for Foose is very neat, it was at his place when I visited some years ago, as was the car you see here: http://v8tvshow.com/content/view/684/214/ (skip to about 1:10).. I haven't seen a picture yet that captures the paint on it. Note what he says about the bumpers..
One from Troy too, the car has been done for a few years now: http://v8tvshow.com/content/view/476/99/
f*ck being the guy who had to grind the chassis out!
