Saw a new DB9 today which had glass buttons how cool are they thumbup

Anyone know a approx cost to retrofit? (fitted)

I assume it's a each price as not all models have the same amount of buttons.

Thanks

Yes I like them too. Read on AMOC, £500 for a set on a DB9 from Works, but I’ve never enquired.

Pretty sure BR would be able to do it for you as well.

Yes, I also spotted them in the new DB9. I saw them in one of the Aston on line accessory sites, £495 I think. I believe they are available in a kit for various models, Vantage etc.

Check out the Nicholas Mee online shop, they have some nice new stuff on there. The switches are under the V8 - V12 vantage items. Be warned it will damage your wealth !!

I >think< they are very slightly larger than the original ones, but could very easily be wrong. I have glass SPORT and suepsion buttons for my BR mods and they really are a work of art. If it is 500 to change them out for the orignals, I'd do that in a shot!

I'd love them, but I think I would keep the plastic ones in my car. That way it can be used as just another reason to move to a new DB9 when I can afford to cloud9

So do I, they are indeed a thing of beauty:

Speaking to the Mike at BR, I think they are about £55 for each button, or as a kit it is about £500 but you would need to check.

Here is the picture from the latest accessories catalogue:

Has anyone tried to fit the Glass Switch kits themselves?

How do you change the latching switch on the sides of the seats?

How hard can it be....?

Does anyone know the cheapest price for the buttons? I would assume that the size would be the same for the old ones. Development wise, it means that they have to change the Ski Slope, if you take your slope off, it see that its not just a piece of plastic now, the later ones are Diecast Aluminimum, they are truly a work of art, to make different ones (for no real reason) is not cost effective.

Also they changed the Ski design when they introduced the emotion control unit, that lump of glass that cost a £1M each, the button for that is slightly bigger than the normal push button, which is understandable. Not forgetting it is not changing one design, there is the SatNav and no SatNav, Manual/Auto, then a meriad of finishes.

Has anyone had the conversion? Or changed them themselves?

Any photos? smile

Surely there must be a price difference for Manual and SS cars?? SS has twice as many buttons!

£55 each / £495 for a set seems to add up if the set is for a SS car - therefore is a set for manual around £295? Me thinks one of us needs to call and ask.

I bought my glass SPORT and suspension buttons from Nick Mee.. they were indeed about 50-55 quid each.

Whether you cn buy them all individually is open to debate, I believe AM wants to issue a kit based on chassis numbers. This wasa while back though.

Have done just that! They have two options listed:

SWITCH KIT-GLASS DB9 MANUAL & V8 VTG MANUAL - Cost: £347.32inc. VAT
Description: Replacement switch kit utilising the latest glass switches, kit includes (Manual): glovebox, seat tilt, parking sensor, DCS control & fog lamp (Auto) seat tilt, glove box, PRNDL, sports, DSC control, parking & fog

SWITCH KIT-GLASS V12 VANTAGE - Cost: £407.72inc. VAT
Description: Replacement switch kit utilising the latest glass switches, kit includes (Manual): glovebox, seat tilt, parking sensor, DCS control & fog lamp (Auto) seat tilt, glove box, PRNDL, sports, DSC control, parking & fog

Both seem to have the same description however and both seem to include the "PRNDL" buttons which are for SS, so I guess this is just a generic description.

I guess the £60 difference in the two must be for the additional Sport Button on the V12V. That said its nice to see the set includes the Seat Tilt and Glove Box buttons (but not the rather out of sight fuel flap release) - I had assumed it was just the 4 buttons in the centre console. So its £347 for 7 buttons or £407 for 8 buttons - either way about £50 a button when bought as a set.

I had a look last night too - it's a little odd because the auto & manual options seem the same price in each instance (although obviously there is no such thing as an auto V12V) but auto models have a whole row of extra buttons. Or am I reading it wrong. Actually on looking again, in the first bit of the description it states 'manual', so the bit that follows obviously doesn't apply - one assumes in anauto, the pricing is much more again

I can't remember if my V12VR has glass buttons for glovebox & seat tilt - I didn't notice it. Not that they are particularly important, though I agree it's a nice touch

Glass buttons (standard on V12VR, I can't remember on V12V) are now a factory option - price, IIRC, c. £3-400. But again, whether these include glovebox & seat tilt, I'm not sure

Labour + £50 per button is what i was quoted so it's best to have all the console buttons replaced in one hit.

Id agree. If they can be bought individually for £50 then Id go for the centre console and glove box but probably give the seat tilt a miss as its inside the door hinge when you have lightweight seats so rather hidden from view. That means I would only need 5 buttons - so at £250 + labour I could well be tempted especially if I get it done at the same time as a few dash squeaks meaning much of the labour would already be covered.

I have only ever had lightweights. where is the seat tilt button if you have regular seats ?

On the headrest - It is actually a good feature

Are these glass button kits changing the area where you insert the ECU or does that remain as plastic flaps?

That's interesting. I was given a four figure amount when I asked Stratstone.

The glass buttons do look fantastic.

I'm getting the lower 4 buttons (V12V) fitted by a main dealer at the moment while the car is in for a service, £190 for the buttons and a bit less again for the fitting I think (don't have exact numbers to hand).
Didn't enquire about the full kit, the sports button gets far more use then the glove box/seat adjustment, so best value I thought.
Can post a pic when I get it back if any one is interested.
