BMW 4 Series coupe leaked

PH joins BMW in Munich for concept preview but pics are already doing the rounds

PistonHeads is in Munich today to get an advance look at the latest crop of BMWs heading our way in coming months, including the new 4 Series coupe. This rebrand of the two-door 3 Series makes the coupe a more distinct model, but the two remain closely related much as the 5 and 6 Series already do.

Sleeker lines for 4 Series coupe concept

We'll be finding out more about the car later on today but pictures of the concept version, due at Detroit in the new year, have already leaked out. And they reveal a sharp-looking car not entirely unlike a smaller, tougher 6 Series with a much sleeker profile than two-door 3 Series have traditionally enjoyed.

Other than the side gills - which may or may not be concept garnish - it's a clean, assertive design very much in keeping with BMW's current design language.

Watch this space for more information from the preview event as we go along.

Now I'm a terribly BIG fan of the Bavarians (I'm sure my name doesn't give that away lol), but does anybody else think that top picture looks like an A5?

Looks like they've captured the elegance of the Gran Coupe and deviated slightly from the snarling front end of the normal 3 series. Good stuff.

Now I'd like to know what the M4 will look like. Shouldn't be too hard to mock one up after the new M3 is revealed.

Also, can we please please please see the 2 series!

Profile looks good, details a bit fussy(hate to be one of those complainers but it really is true with this car).

They could taken the profile from this to the overall look of the E92 and it'd be perfect IMO.

The back end looks too much like the GT range from BM for me, not saying its ugly but the back doesnt seem to fit?

That looks really nice.

It should be called a 3 series coupe though...

A definite improvement over the E92, but the side profile behind the C-pillar still looks a bit unresolved to me.

Best looking BMW (apart from the 1M) for a long while IMO. Lovely smile

Looks good.. I'm imagining though that the entire design process consisted of flicking through the A5 brochure and wondering what it would look like with a BMW front end hehe

Why? What do you want to change?

I have to agree, there is nothing wrong with it but what is special about it?

I wish they had done something a bit different - its the simple things that count...

I wasn't expecting it to look like that.

I really don't like it!
