Has anyone got a checklist for a body lift please? I'm planning on doing the 2" lift to check the chassis and want to make sure I dont miss anything that should be undone/disconnected before I lift and the search engine is not available.
Any one got a link or don it themselves please.
Thanks
Mick

No problem. I can't lay any claim to it myself, just recalled seeing it before and google did the rest.

Good luck with the lift.

For just the minimum lift I found this link pretty useful. I did the 2" lift last winter to inspect, sand down and repaint outriggers on my Chim.

Depending on the size of your hands you can get away without actually removing the rad.
Only other tip I'd offer is to take the removal of the seatbelt bolts slowly. Plenty of plus gas and work them slowly out.

I used the very same body off check list myself last year, it worked really well. I am not an expert so if I can use it anyone can.

Good luck

The expert I use can detect rust on top of the outriggers without even taking the body off or lifting it. He showed me a Griff on his ramp in apparently perfect chassis order with an urgent need for outrigger replacement. Have you considered half an hour of TVR expert's time with your pride and joy up on a ramp?

+1 that - just snapped one of my chassis seatbelt bolts undoing the bugger. Had to grind it off level and will have to drill it out when the body comes off!

Thanks for the tips Gents. Im pretty sure Ill be replacing the outriggers, after a good look at them the tops are pretty rusty so I think ill replace them now rather than later Wax oil hides a lot of trouble.Certainly wont be using it myself.

I used that same list for my body lift with only one hitch........the wiring for the reverse light switch. Check and double check you've got everything, it's amazing how that one piece of wire hung on tenaciously ! Best of luck with the lift.

You can feel a void behind the carpet where the bolts are hiding. I cut a slit in the carpet just big enough to get a ratchet spanner in there.

The 2 blue arrows indicate where on the chassis the 2 no. bolts under the dash are fastened.

They are on top of the tunnel approx 50mm or so back from the lower front of your dash. Mine were difficult to locate and i had to cut some of the carpet back to get to them. They are also used as an earth point for most of the electrics behind the dash.
