SEAT LEON 2LT 16V TDI CAMBELT INTERVAL - MILEAGE

Can someone please tell me what the official recommended cambelt replacement interval is, for the above car.

I own the above car, with 1 year remaining, of a 3 year extended SEAT warranty. The car has done 100k, and the first cambelt change was done at 64k. I was told initially by the dealer that the interval was 80k, but searching around seemed to point to a lower interval, and when questioned, they reverted to 4 years or 40k. Eekkkk !!!!!! the mileage was 64k.

So cambelt was done, pronto, at 64k, I have piled on the miles this year, and am now looking at the 100k service, and a potential 2nd cambelt change, based on the 40k interval, but after only 15 months or so.

My question is this, does anyone have THE definitive, SEAT recommended mileage interval, (not years, Iknow it's 4, and the car's well within that, so not relevant), for the changing of a SEAT LEON 2LT 16V TDI engine cambelt.

Every forum seems to contain completely conflicting information, all 4 years, but ranging from 40 - 80k. Bear in mind that this is to satisfy the conditions of a warranty, should anything happen to the belt. As the warranty is SEAT based then the official SEAT recommended distance should apply, should any claim arise due to belt failure.

Think it depends on the year of the car, for example mine was 80k however some are done at 60k.

My father had the 2.0 16v sport tdi 140bhp leon. on a 2007 (not sure if the same) but he changed his every 60k and put 132k on it with 2 changes

Given the situation I'd get the answer in writing from SEAT, if there's a dispute later on down the line the answer you got on PH isn't going to help you.

I know in the past most VAG diesel engines tend to be 60k or 4 years whichever comes first.

Depends on the year.

Assuming it's iro 2007.
2007- 150000km or 48 months.
2006 120000km or 48 months.

Thanks for the replies, but do you see what I mean about mileage variance ? 40k to 150,000kms.

I've e-mailed SEAT UK, in an effort to clarify things, I'll re-post when/if I get some sense out of them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for preventative maintenance, and fully understand the implications on an interference engine design, but replacing something when it's 2/3rds, or even half way through it's designated lifespan seems a bit odd to me, and I suspect generates quite a profit, at £350 a pop, for the dealers.

autodata specify an interval of 80k or 4 years, thats for a 2007 2.0 tdi pd engine.

I've got the 170BHP version and it was 4 years or 60k. Got it done at 4 years, as it was really low mileage when I bought it and was nowhere near the 60. I know it can be confusing with every engine being different, because my old 1.9 130 TDi Ibiza engine was 4 years or 80k!

OK, contacted SEAT UK technical bods, who have told me that the recommended cambelt interval is, 4 years, or 95,000 miles. My engine code is BKD. So why the 40k recommended interval from the dealer ?
