FakeFactory Cinematic Mod v.12 for Half-Life 2 was released recently.

A quick guide:

64 bit systems only.

You need a fully installed Steam client. You can't start the mod without Steam running.

Source SDK (SDK, Base, Base 2007) installed (you can get them in Steam | Tools).

You must own Half Life 2 + Episode 1 + Episode 2 fully installed and unlocked (i.e. started at least once) You cannot play without Episode 2 content.

Ensure Steam is not running before you install the mod.

Start the mod with the shortcuts in the start menu, Not from your Steam Client games panel.

Remember to activate "High Quality" graphic settings in the Half-Life 2 video options dialog. Especially the model setting must be at "High" or you'll get facial animation errors with HD models.

You must enable HDR in the Half-Life 2 video options, when using the dynamic shadow enhanced maps. (Looks very weird and unnatural in LDR)

If you are using HD characters, re-initiate them with the new character pimper after updating the CM.

After installing FAKEFACTORY_CM12.20 you need to update to FAKEFACTORY_CM12.21, to do this just copy the CM12.21 files to your FAKEFACTORY_CM12 folder keeping the folder structure and overwriting the old files.

This is the path to FAKEFACTORY_CM12 (after you've installed it of course) and this is where you need to copy the CM12.21 files:

..\Program Files (x86)\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\FAKEFACTORY_CM12

Also you will need to update all your models in the Character Pimper.

I have found that these are the best links to the files:

CM12.20_FULL:

CM12.20FULL_to12.21FULL:

Alyx is looking good.

Yeah as good as it looks, I never imagined alyx to look like a tramp...

One thing I hate about pc games with women in... They are from the imaginations of fat losers who rarely see real women so the end up being these semi naked warrior tramps types that just look stupid.

Actually there are a couple of non juvenial Alyx models available in the mod. I particularly like the one in Crysisesque armour. Might explain some of her fighting prowess!

Cinematic mod is absolutely stunning, a real treat to go through HL2 again.
