There was a thread in the past few weeks where someone posted up the number of AM cars produced in the past year that showed Rapide as the biggest seller. Anyone know which thread it was or has the production numbers.

Since it was Zod who made the claim, a quick search on his profile.... whistle

Ta, but I'm sure there was a thread with the production figures from Evo posted up. Was worldwide figures. Either that or I imagined it.
Can't search for it using Google, as using the word Sales just lists all the cars for sale.

Neil - I think the conclusion to that topic, was that the Rapide is NOT the biggest selling model.

Perhaps the thread that you are looking for is the one that I started,
ASTON MARTIN - UK ANNUAL SALES
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Please do not assume that any of the figures shown are correct. It is very difficult, because various sources continually provide conflicting figures.
For the UK registrations, one is dependent upon the DVLA records - enough said.

You seem interested in not UK only, but total production.
I read only this afternoon (Autocar I think), that 2012 production dropped below 4,000. My own figures (gathered from various sources) for previous years are as follows. If anyone can correct the errors, I would be grateful.

1973 250
1974 200
1975 20
1976 176
1977 262
1978 280
1979 266 10,000 th Car built.
1980 203
1981 149
1982 138
1983 145
1984 170
1985 180
1986 N/A
1987 225
1988 235
1989 208
1990 193

1992 60
1993 97
1994 127
1995 651
1996 702
1997 644
1998 625

Looks remarkably like the same thread I've linked to Jon wink

Surely those figures are too low. I thought they were hovering around the 6k to 7k mark.

If sales are decreasing as rapidly as you suggest it could explain recent pricing policy and the retreat to an 'exclusive niche' position smile

Figures tie in with what I've seen elsewhere. 4-4.5k of cars per annum. Hence Aston have been struggling, and needed a new investor.
Looks like I imagined a post with the manufactured numbers by model frown

I think the explanation Jockman, is that the 2005 introduction of the Vantage (into a new sector), dramatically increased total production numbers.
As that model has aged, customer interest has waned, hence the reduction in total production. Thank goodness for the timely expansion into overseas markets.

For some time Neil, I have tried (unsuccessfully) to find model split information. It would be interesting to see. The giants of the industry do release, but perhaps AML consider it to be commercially sensitive.

2005 wasn't notable only for the Vantage as it was also the first full year of production for the DB9 -- and the DB9's availability in the US. Vantages were not really available in the US until well into the year. Also, the Vantage was more of a return to a sector AM had been in years before (until the early '70s based on then-new prices and the CPI) rather than an entrance into a new one.
