Having just sold my Elise R, looking at an Exige as a replacement or an Elise S. Thought I'd just check out the insurance. WOW. For my Elise I was paying 720 Euros (£620) which I thought reasonable. The Exige comes in at more than twice the price 1550 Euros (£1320) Is that par for the course in the UK. Seems strange to have a 10% power incresase but a 50% rise in premium. Wasn't expecting that. Perhaps its just an uncompromising comparison site and to generalistic.

Try REIS, I got a reasonable price through them for my 300 bhp, type R engined Elise. It was on low annual mileage, but it was still no where near your quotes.

Chris Knott seems to be price matching at the moment for slightly better levels of cover.
My renewal was £750, gocompare or the like was £400-ish with esure and Chris Knott matched it with better Euro cover.

Do you use a UK co. to insure for France? If so, try CCI, I pay <£400 for an S2 Exige. But I'm old and drive like Miss Daisy (on the road).

Seems to be going the other way at the moment in the UK - number of people in their 30s with Elises struggling to get insurance full stop with some of the specialists if they want to keep track cover - Aviva apparently won't offer it for people under 40 (was OK up until the end of Dec).

But no trouble for Exiges or modded Elises.

Things are looking much better as got quotes today for between £600/£700. Only surprise came from the fact that the Exige came in cheaper than an Elise SC although I think I was probably quoted the less powerful Exige. That'll teach me to not to trust those comparison sites.
