I'm looking to replace the standard apple headphones and these look like they could be decent - has anyone got a pair and would you recommend them? Any other suggestions welcomed but it must have a clicker, a la standard apple headphones.

Compare the Bose specs with the Apple specs and see which is better!

It wasn't a question of Apple v Bose, I know they'll be better than the Apple standard ones, I'm not an idiot tongue out It was a question asking what are my options for replacing the standard Apple ones, i.e. are these any good and worth the £120, or are there better alternatives? biggrin

I had some of these, they sound quite good but my pair broke after about 8 months.

My point, in a round about way, was try find some Bose specs - you won't. Bose are a notoriously litigious company, if they don't like a product review then they release the lawyer hounds.

That said, it all comes down to personal choice, I find my Sennheiser earphones too bassy but others might like them.

They are pretty well rated but if it was my money I'd either spend half that on a decent set of Sennheiser/Klipsch or pay another few quid and get these beauties B&W C5 Headphones.

I use Klipsch x10i here, stunning sound and so light you dont even know they are in your ears. No tiredness from ears even after long journeys with them in

I had a pair od Sennheisers but they broke, so bought some cheap JVC Xtreme Xplosives as a temporary measure.

Might be worth having a read through this thread on PH:

I have the Bose.

Extremely comfortable and sound great.

Not cheap but, for me, worth it.

After my 4th pair of Sennheiser's broke (they all seem to suffer from the cable fracturing after a period) I went Google-hunting for alternatives and ended up with a pair of Soundmagic e10. ( www.whathifi.com/review/soundmagic-e10) 5 star reviews and 1 star price.

Compared to the Sennheisers they lose some of the bass, but actually that's no bad thing as all the Sennheisers that I've had (CX-300 and CX-400's) have been too bass-heavy. A few months on and I still think they're great. Robust, nice neutral sound, metal construction and decent build quality.

  • Edit* Ah, Missed the OP's requirement for the clicker, but opinion may be useful for others.

I've had 2 pairs of the Bose in ears. The first pair died in the left side after 5 months, the second are only 3 months old but 9/10 times when I want to use the remote to change song or answer a call, the right side cuts out temporarily.

Sound quality is pretty good, however suffers from the "Bose Bloat", where the EQ boosts bass a little too much. For half as much, you can get the AKG K451, which is an on ear rather than in ear design, however the sound quality is much better all round (link http://www.amazon.co.uk/AKG-K451-Foldable-Mini-Hea... If the iRemote isn't a necessity, then the K450 is the same but without it, for £20 less.

I've gone off in ear headphones lately, they just don't offer the same level of sound quality, something which I am very particular about.
