Presumably we should expect our lawmakers to behave more responsibly than this, and of course he had already committed the crime before he stood as an MP, as he was only an MEP back in 2003.
It will be very interesting to see if the judge decides to make an example of him to deter others - not something I would advocate personally - the deterrent only works if you think you will be caught - and I don't think he did.

Nope - he's ended his career. The only way back from this would have been if he'd been found not guilty; he'll get a jail sentence for this, I should think - remember Jeffrey Archer got 4 years for perverting the course of justice. Nope - he's ended his career. I'd even suggest that a stretch inside for mmany of our politicians would make them better at their job.

Huhne stood for office in Parliament, KNOWING that he was guilty of an offence, yet deemed himself suitable to rule on law over us.
I don't see how the judge can overlook this, no matter what excuse he comes up with for delaying his plea, as they appear to have been advised at the time by Judge Constance Briscoe.
