Well I've managed to remove the original Sony manufactured head unit from my 355 and I have purchased an up to date Sony head unit to replace it. Any idea where I can get a wiring harness adaptor? I've tried a number of websites but Ferrari tends not to be listed in the accessories sections. I don't really want to start chopping leads on the original harness. There must be somewhere I can buy one.....

Well I was going to suggest Autoleads, but their Ferrari listing isn't worth talking about!
I would say the best solution would be to find and call a good Car Audio business near to you - they should be able to either point you in the right direction, or even supply or make up the right lead for you.

If the wiring block in the F355 is still an ISO type (original cables) then it will be plug and play with any new head unit you buy. If the F355 has just "bare-wires" then you will need a bare end ISO lead which will need crimping to the existing cables.
If unsure, upload a picture and I can then advise accordingly.

Thanks guys, you are right about Autoleads!! All other sites are the same. I'll post some pics up tomorrow and see where we go from there....

As Rick says you'll have to patch the old Sony into an ISO or similar to update it - the 355 Sony connection diagram is probably on one of the dedicated Ferrari forums

Halfords surprisingly have a very large selection of ISO to modern unit connectors, we have a large one down the road from us and we use them all the time.

If you have bare cables then you will need one of these, along with some bullet connectors :

If you have the ISO block in the same link then it should be plug and play. If your new stereo does not hold memory then swap the ignition and permanent live cables around on the ISO block so they go to the opposing colour on the stereo loom (yellow and red cables).

Sadly they are not ISO, they're bespoke.

I tried to find an adapter but couldn't fid one, in the ned buying tailed ISO connectors and splicing them into the loom

^^^^ thanks, I've come to that conclusion, it would appear there are two bespoke head unit connectors so there must have been a choice of stereo on the options list. Possibly Sony and Becker? So I'm going to get the ISO connector with bare ends and wire it to the "other" connector. That way I can return to original Sony if required.
