Updated Spania GTA Spano

Revised version of obscure-but-potent Spanish supercar will debut in Geneva

Spanish boutique supercar maker Spania GTA has revealed a second picture of its updated GTA Spano, prompting us to construct the sentence with the most-ever instances of words beginning with ‘Span’ in the history of PistonHeads. Maybe.

New GTA Spano will hit 900hp. Crikey.
New GTA Spano will hit 900hp. Crikey.
The new car will be a revised version of the original GTA Spano, which has been around since 2010. As per the original, it uses an Atlantic-spanning (sorry) drivetrain, consisting of the Dodge/SRT Viper’s 8.4-litre V10 – although where the first GTA Spano kicked out ‘just’ 820hp, the new version will up that to 900hp. You’d be right to think it’s a bit tasty, then – 62mph will come up in 2.9 seconds, while top speed will be in excess of 217mph. Torque, meanwhile, will be limited electronically to 737lb ft.

2012’s GTA Spano was constructed from a plethora of spangly (OK, we’ll stop, we promise) high-tech materials, including Kevlar, titanium and carbon fibre. The result was that the whole car was remarkably light, weighing just 1,350kg. And while there’s no word of the 2013 car’s construction, it’s reasonable to expect more of the same. Don’t count on it being an easy thing to come by, though - just 99 examples of the GTA Spano will be produced for the whole world, making it one of the most exclusive supercars out there.  And of course, while pricing hasn’t yet been announced, you can count on it being wallet-spankingly (ahem) expensive.

I suspect it'll be considerably more exclusive than that.

My Eyes!! Please take it away.

I doubt even Hot Wheels would want to recreate this - this thing!

That's an incredible design!
Looks like a Gallardo from the front, and a tennis racket or something from the side. Fantastic work.

This slightly more forgiving angle still does it no favours. Has every car designer of the last 10 years suddenly developed Alzheimers? Nobody seems to know what they want their cars to look like any more.

Saw the current car at Goodwood Last Year, didn't know what it was but thought it was one of the more exciting, original and best styled car there, very clean and purposeful compared to the current Lambo's, Ferrari's and Macca's that all look a bit overstyled with all of the intakes, ducts, strakes, wings, flaps etc. Only the Noble comes close but not that close. IMHO obviously.

An interesting blend of Noble M600, Fiat Coupe and Aston Martin DB9. That's going front to back on the side profile of course. Oh yeah, and an egg in the middle.

Despite the sceptics, this is very much a real car. Here's a video up close with one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedd...

What was that Spanish supercar that was featured on a Telly show a few years ago? I think it was one of those travel shows or maybe a foodie one and the exciteable presenter got taken for a trip out in it at what appeared to be super slow speeds. It was a more outlandish design than the Spanner with (I think) tandem seating and a fighter-jet style cockpit.

Of course I might have just dreamt up the whole thing...

From the side view, it looks to me like the cabin should be shifted a few inches back.
