What is it with all these Silver / Grey BORING cars!
I counted 100+ on the M4 yesterday between J12 and J13 whilst going the other way last night. Same thing this morning.
Only Silver car would have to be a 1930's Auto Union or Merc race car otherwise buy a COLOURED car!
Why buy a silver car? Please explain as I don't get it.

Easy to sell on, east to clean.
Although I prefer black.

Actually I've just seen a graph somewhere which charted popular colours over the last 40 years, silver has been on the up for about 5-8 years IIRC. But then if you look at the range of colours you can have, it's Hobson's choice. Dull, dreary and silver's the best of the bad bunch, doesn't show the dirt too much and is pretty much incognito...

Not my first choice, you can never find it in a car park

I think it was The Times that had the graph in that I was thinking of - can't see it on line though.

I don't know the answer really, but silver grey cars do seem to be very popular now, which makes them very ordinary, and that would tend to put me off buying one.
Our 406 is China Blue which I think looks very nice on a sunny day if the car is clean and shiny. Having said that, there also seem to be quite a few about with that colour, so it's not that distinctive after all. Still looks nice though - at least I think so.
Best wishes all,
Dave.

I'm not convinced buying a Silver car is as boring as counting them on the motorway!
Its the current trend, I suppose.
Metallic Green is also quite popular but dying out a bit now.
10 years ago, Green was rock hard to sell as it was perceived as unlucky. Then British Racing Green became popular and people started buying it.
My current Audi is silver and although I used to think silver looked bland, I think it suits my car very well.
