The multiple warning lights shining on my dash suggest the hydro unit on my 2007 E92 335i has packed up. Having searched online it appears to be a very common problem with the pressure sensors in the hydro unit and that new Hydro units cost approx £1600+fitting+programming+VAT eek . A little more checking online suggested that BMW have now released repair kits to fix the Hydro unit issue and that the kits only a couple of hundred pounds or so ( for the models I could find prices for).

Using RealOEM I found the part number for the repair kit on the E92 335i and enquired about pricing for the complete Hydro unit and also the repair kit from Murketts in Huntingdon. Its looking like £1586+ fitting/programming + VAT for a complete new unit, so about £2200 total. The E92 335i repair kit is nearer £900+ fitting/coding + VAT, so about £1300 all in.

I'm hoping that someone on PH has some experience of this issue on their E90/91/92 series and can advise whether or not there might be any lower cost options ?? Are the hydro units completely sealed items which cannot be stripped and repaired ?? There are specialists who strip and repair VANOS units and Audi 4WD Mechatronics units, for example, and I was wondering if someone offers a similar repair service for Hydro Units ??

Thanks in advance for any help.
Dave.

Hi mate mine failed 2 months ago and I was looking at a £1900 bill. After research and help from fellow phers I decided to take it to local dealers even though the car was not bought from them...

After a discussion with the service "manager" at the dealers I asked them for a good will gesture from BMW as this is a very common fault(look back january time on this forum and you will find my posts on the exact same issue which you may find usefull).

BMW contributed to 90% of the price of the part but the dealer did not contribute with the fitting leaving me with a bill of about £600.

To say I was happy is an understatement as the car was on a 07 plate with 80k miles (325d m sport coupe).

If I was you I would definatly go down the same route plus if it ever failed again you take it back.

Hope this helps

Check if it is the DSC causing the fault. If so try BBA reman for a repair to your unit.

Thank you both............I'll speak to BMW to see if they're prepared to contribute and also to BBA reman in case BMW aren't feeling generous.

You may be lucky that its just a sensor.. You'd get a similar warning.

Try that BBA Remain or ECU Testing.
