I'm looking to replace my camshaft on my 1995 4.0 Chim. All the forum discussions seem to be among 500 owners. Reading the reviews it would appear that the characteristics of the V8 developments Stealth cam look very appealing.

Does this cam work for a 400 and are spring changes necessary? If not does anyone have a reccomendation for a similar characteristic cam kit for a 400?

I'm reasonably useful with a spanner and am considering changing the cam myself - does anyone have any tips for setting up as doing the install is one thing but setting up correctly is something I'm nervous about - is any ECU tweaking required.

In terms of the engine it is standard apart from sleeved exhaust, ACT induction pipes, K&N filter and carbon flared trumpets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im looking to change mine aswell, but since the stealth has such high lift, you need pocketed pistons. Which the 450 and 500s have, but 400s are unsure, some may have... depending on the weather and who was working that day wobble

That means screwing out a plug and getting in a device to look at the piston top... If it has pockets, buy stealth, if not buy MC1

I would give v8D a call ,they do a very nice cam called the MC1 ..nice and smooth but still delvers good power..

Some of the higher lift cams may not fit without modification.. The 14cux will cope with the MC1 cam.

Do the 500's have pocketed pistons? I have a500 and looked at the Stealth cam, but didn't think I could use it. I have a 218 at the moment and would like something with a bit more umph, but will be running 14cux for the foreseeable future. Is the MC1 worth a punt on the 500?

You will be ok with a Stealth in a 500. They have pocketed pistons.

Pretty sure a Stealth will be fine in a 400 as well. Speak with Chimpongas, he has a Stealth in his 400.
