The key for my 1998 Chimaera has lost the "button" on the face of the key fob.

To de-activate (or re-activate) the alarm and immobiliser I have to poke the end of the key in to the slot in the fob. Everything works fine when I do this.

My concern though is the "workings" inside the fob won't last forever like this so can I get just a new fob cover to replace the existing?

I don't need a new key, or alarm, or immobiliser - just a new outer fob part complete with the "blipper" in the right place of course!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers.

in the SE.

Extract from his details I have on file...

<<
My name is David Fairclough and I contacting all the regional organisers within the TVR owners club.
Until 2 years ago, I headed up technical support for Meta SystemsUK in the south of England. This entailed liaising with vehicle manufacturers and helping with the design and support of alarm systems.

As Meta Systems were the manufacturer and suppliers for the alarms installed to TVR, I found I was also responsible for the training and support of their regional installers.

After having been made redundant, I decided to set up my own business, offering installation and support of alarm systems...

This was taken from a thread on here quiet a while ago. I have not had a chance to ring him yet to book mine in but give him a go.

Thank you very much guys for quick response.

New fob case ordered from Abacus Car Alarms. Their web site was very easy to use. It explained my old ancient fob was no longer available but directs you to a suitable repacement one with no fuss.

A nice touch was to give you the option to have a new battery included in the order.

Very, very good service by them.

Cheers.

Pleasure to be of service.

Tip of the week: don't leave your one and only key in your trousers prior to having them washed. I'm now a proud owner of three lovely new keys and one of them in a very very clean case smile
