V8 Vantage Phone Mode
Discussion
Trying to pair my Iphone 4S to my 2008 V8 Vantage Roadster (bluetooth factory fitted)
The handbook states When Phone Mode is active the symbol (horizontal telephone handset) will show in the display and it also states that when the phone is connected the blutooth symbol appears in the display.
The phone menu is only available when phone node is activated. Press PHONE to access the main menu.
So I press PHONE and nothing happens?
The phone is linked (via bluetooth) to the AM Eurowatch tracking device fitted to the car and I tested this out just now (i went out for a drive without the phone) and it triggered an alarm from AM Eurowatch
I cannot seem to get the Phone mode active
Any advice

Have you tried the suggested technique from the FAQ? This is how I got my 4S to pair with my '07 V8V:
iPhone and Bluetooth
Some people have had problems pairing the 4 / 5 iPhone, especially on early cars, but will work:-
Put the iphone Bluetooth into search mode.
Tell the car - Pair phone
Car tells you to put phone into search mode and then type 1 2 3 4 as the bluetooth code.
Phone will see the car - will list as Aston Martin. Put code in
It will then fail! Car says pairing failed.
But you now have the iphone recognising the Aston Martin bluetooth, so on the phone, select "Aston Martin" on the bluetooth menu. It will bring up the boxes to put in the passcode. Put in 1 2 3 4, but do NOT press pair on the phone yet.
Tell the car - pair phone. Then immediatley press the Pair button (top right) on the phone.
Should then pair straght away.
Checked and phone is always then recognised on startup

Press bottom left button on steering wheel (Phone symbol). Car will say something such as "Command Mode" - then you say "Pair Phone" - car will say "Do you want to Pair Phone" - say - Yes. Either you're pressing the wrong button on the steering wheel, or your car's Bluetooth module is faulty. Stupid question but you have got the ignition on - Position II ?
Just went out in the car again, this time with the phone with me. No alarms from AM Eurowatch. This would indicate at least the Bluetooth module in the car is seeing the phone
I tried it earlier without the phone and it triggered an alarm from AM Eurowatch.
So the Bluetooth module is not completely goosed.
Neither phone button on the steering wheel and the phone button in the centre console seem to activate the phone menu in the car.
I have pressed the battery disconnect switch to see if this will reset the Bluetooth module.
Will see what happens tomorrow
Is your steering wheel like this one - http://images.thecarconnection.com/lrg/2009-aston-...
or like this one - http://images.thecarconnection.com/lrg/2011-aston-...
If its the first one, you press the bottom button on the wheel and say "setup menu" then say "help" to get a list of commands.

I've got a feeling that the Eurowatch system has got it's own bluetooth system. So even if that's working, it isn't confirmation that you haven't got a problem with the AM bluetooth module. This would indicate at least the Bluetooth module in the car is seeing the phone

OP -
Keep trying , I have a 2008 V8 Vantage Roadster and it took me a while to pair with my iPhone 4 (on the Vodafone network ).
Unfortunately it was over a year ago now , I can't remember how i eventually got it to work , but start with the obvious , power phone off/on and disable/enable bluetooth again.
Cheers,
Nick

I did wonder about that. There was a thread about connecting to Eurowatch, then it gets dropped and connects to the phone's bluetooth.Bravo73 said:

I had my eurowatch system replaced, but the car phone system kept working.
There's two separate bluetooth IDs too.

You're absolutely right. My 4S looks for 'Aston Martin' and 'blu2im II' separately.
Guys, firstly thanks for all your help so far.My Iphone is seeing only the Eurowatch bluetooth module called "blu2im" and according to the AM Eurowatch website it only connects briefly to let the tracker device now it is seeing the tracker tag (ie my phone)
I suspect the AM bluetooth module is not working.
Does anyone know if it is possible to restart the AM bluetooth module (battery disconnect switch or complete battery disconnection) and where is the AM BT module located in the car?

Sorry, no idea how to restart the bluetooth module, or even where it is. Probably best to take it to a main dealer. When did it stop working, what changed since it stopped working - e.g. low battery? My Iphone is seeing only the Eurowatch bluetooth module called "blu2im" and according to the AM Eurowatch website it only connects briefly to let the tracker device now it is seeing the tracker tag (ie my phone)

Yup, sadly I know a little too much about Bluetooth, and poked around a bit when my Eurowatch went on the blink. Didn't post about it here because "help, my tracker isn't working" would be a dumb thing to post
No idea how to reset the Aston phone module, sorry. Dealer/specialist job I reckon.
Okay guys an update to my OP.
I spoke to the service guy at AM Stratstone and he said it was unusual for the Bluetooth module to fail.
The problem I have is that the Phone menu in the car cannot be accessed so the car cannot search for my phone to pair with the AM Bluetooth
After some discussion he thought that a hard reset would be worth a try.
In other words disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Or
Lift the carpet at the passenger footwell, remove an aluminium access panel that gives access to the cabin fuse box and pull the fuse for the Bluetooth module.
The advantage of this is that it only removes power to the Bluetooth module.
I just had a quick look in the car and this seems to be the way forward, it looks as if it would only take minutes to access the cabin fuse box.
As an aside to this, there was a post recently where the OP had a problem with the door modules and he opted to strip the door card off to disconnect the modules as opposed to
accessing the cabin fuse box, this is now in the FAQ's section, but this looks like much more work than accessing the cabin fuse box which also houses the fuses for the door modules.
As an other aside I think the Bluetooth module is in the centre of the dash, behind the Sat Nav, early cars had a Motorola Bluetooth module fited which changed at MY08 perhaps?
When I get round to trying this I will photograph for future reference.
Cabin fuses are listed in the handbook although the Bluetooth module is listed against two different fuses

That was me pulling the door card off, mainly so I could check for any loose wiring within the door at the same time. Taking the footwell plate up shouldn't be too difficult. (Was my original intention) Might be worth getting some Velcro or similar to re-stick the carpet back down with after you've pulled it up.
Best of luck!
