RS5 worth it over a S5?
Discussion
For me a couple of things stopped me buying an RS5, but if it hadn't been just upping my budget for something else altogether, it would have been the fact that the S5 with a pulley upgrade and remap would cost less than the RS5, offer better performance and leave change. The main selling point for the RS5 was the overall appearance.
Look out Chris Harris's comparison of the S4 vs. RS4 recently, as its not too much of a stretch to apply the same reasoning to S5 vs. RS5.

I was looking really at the V8 coupes.
Currently I have a 2009 V8 S5. I have been looking at the RS5 for a while. I notice there is actually not much of a demand for them. The same RS5's have been on the market for 5 months at the same £40k. Clearly some shift.
A huge part of me wants the XKR. It makes more sense if I can't justify the additional costs for the RS5.

They sell pretty quickly at Audi Centres. Currently I have a 2009 V8 S5. I have been looking at the RS5 for a while. I notice there is actually not much of a demand for them. The same RS5's have been on the market for 5 months at the same £40k. Clearly some shift.

Having owned the S5 before moving to an RS5 I can assure you there is a big gap between the two cars. I was initially skeptical about whether the price difference was justified but it really is a different beast altogether especially in dynamic mode. Personally I use the individual mode and set everything to dynamic except the suspension(unbearable in dynamic on Uk roads). Have had mine for 16 months now and absolutely love it, I was very fond of the S5 but the RS looks , sounds and goes much better ( esp above 4500 rpm). You're looking at alot of car now for 40k, definitely the choice to make over a nearly new S5.
That does sound quite interesting.
I am also looking at the Bentley GT. I wonder how it would compare.
I have to say I love the Audi quality. The interiors are so lush. I would find it hard to go to BMW and even possibly the the XKR.
I am quite tempted. I have requested for a test drive at Audi Chingford. Lets see how it goes.
It is possibly my next car... might be worth waiting till the face lift car is in my price range

When my A4 is up, the RS5 may be my next target. What were the main changes on the face lift car, out of interest?I am also looking at the Bentley GT. I wonder how it would compare.

Hi All,
I've been driving an A5 3.0 TDI for the last 4 years and took an RS5 out for a test drive last weekend - the difference between the stock A5 and the RS is pretty big - the interior is better quality (seats are better, leather is better quality etc.) but the engine, performance and handling makes it feel like you are in a totally different model.
It certainly convinced me that the RS is the next model to have rather than the S.

I do agree that the super sports seats are preferable to the buckets (in my opinion).
However the standard seats arent the same - The RS has super sport seats as standard where as an A5 has standard sports seats they are very different - regardless the RS is a much much better allround package.
