A squeak....Mmmm...Dont think it would be the accumulator..Not much to squeak inside them other than a massive spring..Fuel pump would buzz loudly if its failing or just stop..Not sure it would squeak..You would notice something when driving if there was anythung wrong with the fuel pump..Suspension can squeak...Check it by pushing down on each corner of the car and bouncing the suspension..Ziga

Marcus,

Can you make it squeak when the car is parked? That would half the number of things it could be.

I bought a cheap "mechanic's stethoscope". It is great for pinpointing an odd noise, but obviously not when driving.

Should have said, it done when stationary as well. I'll have a good look over the weekend. It was getting dark when i was looking but it wasn't definately coming from around the fuel pump area.

I thought it was more of a buzzing than a squeaking though?...Marcus you say it does it when stationery..I take it the engine running when it happens?..You could try unplugging the green plug on the metering head and turn the ignition to the first position to see if it still happens..The fuel pump is the only thing running then and you will see if its that or not..Otherwise i would say check the alternator and power steering belts..(If fitted)..If you have power steering making sure you have fluid in the pump as they can make a squeaking noise if they are dry...Other than that are you sure there are no birds nesting up in there somewhere...Ziga

My 350i developed a squeak on the way back from Chatsworth on Sunday. Only really noticeable when ticking over stationary. I thought belt of some kind. But all it was, was the exhaust back box. Touch it and the squeak tops instantly so I spouse in need some new rubber mounts.

Awite Mark, there was a squeak/whistle just ticking over without touching the steering, gonna put some tax on it tomorrow and get it out and about so I can get a feel for things, want to make it to bBearwood car show on the 18th hopefully, see how long it drives for before I gotta strip something down, mot in June so dunno if rack or pump will be an issue, haven't sorted any issues from rolling road at last bbwf, goes ok once blown cobwebs over boy racers behind !
