Hi James.

Depends what model your Vantage is because the RCM can be situated in both of those places you state.

If it is in the centre console area, remove the trim, as in this picture, and lift up NVH trim to find the RCM.

If the RCM is not there and is in wheel arch you will have to remove liner, and at the end of each loom strand, try to find something that looks like the module in the picture.

But what issues do you have to suspect RCM??

I recently could not get the AM Bluetooth module in the car to work.
Simply removing the fuse for the module (also checking it was not blown) and reinserting it solved the problem.
Only took minutes and reset the module, now working.

Yeah, sound advice the old 'control, alt, delete' approach..!

If the RCM gets unhappy and a fault code is stored, being a critical safety control module means it will need the diagnostic tool to kick back into life becuase the body module (which will not respond to 'control, alt, delete') will need to know 'belt and braces' the RCM has been properly kicked back into life before clearing faults to rest of the cars systems.

The removal of fuse worked in your case because it didn't need another control system / safety mechanism to enable the function to work, as RCM might - it depends on the fault.

The key here is to plug in the diagnostic tool and reflash the RCM. If the RCM takes the flash and reports no errors I would not be touching the RCM any further and diagnose problem elsewhere.

Just had a thought... The 'control, alt, delete' method might work here...

James. Could you be confusing RCM with CRM??

You actually have a problem we've seen numerous times.

Low Speed CAN goes crazy because CRM module, rear right wheel arch liner has crashed.

If so, simply disconnect the CRM and all functions other than roof will be restored.

If this is issue you will need a new CRM and flash with AMDS.
