I bought a kit to install forward and reversing cameras.

This is a big job to do properly but I now have camera automatically on in reverse and a forward camera whenever parking sensors activated ( reversing always wins).

I will publish exactly how this is done ( cost about 500 to me but now I know what I know it can be done for circa 300) however in the mean time some forum help.

The camera box is mounted under the passenger side rear seat ( with nav unit). I need to run a wire from here to the front bumper.

The logical route is along the left sill to the front footwell fuse box and then into the engine compartment.

Here is the issue. I have had a pretty close look and whilst there will be a path between the front fuse box and the engine bay I can't find it.

So does anyone have any suggestions as to how is is done?

Quite happy to remove bits to find the " hole"

Thanks

Jeremy

Ps. The whole thing bass been done with the drilling of no holes at all. The only hole I will need to drill will be under the front numberplate

How about getting the car in the dark and putting a bright light in the engine bay, then have a look up behind the dash from inside.

Nice idea but it will all be grommet sealed off so that you don't get fumes into the car.

My theory of the day is to try and follow the bonnet release cable.

Ok so yawn yawn I will join the Bamford Rose fan club. AMDBSNICK PMd me Adrain at Bamford Rose number and I have just spoken to him. I was trying to go down the passenger side, but apparently the drivers side is easier .... so I know what I am doing tonight! Pics etc will follow, but just all bear in mind that this is really not for the faint hearted!

And to join the Paralite fan club - who i called following another forum member message - similar suggestion to Bamford Rose. I emailed James saying he really did not have to tell me, but was gracious enough to do so. Thank you to you both.

As you will see when I publish how this is done it is alot alot of work and unless you are quite happy taking the car to bits please call James from Paralite ( or BR) - about £1200 I think which please believe me I have considered true value from time to time during this process. Just as well I enjoy it!

The other day a neighbour asked "does it go wrong allot" as I had been out there half the weekend!

Apparently Works Service charge £3500 - so for that my address is ....!

I feel you may have cruelly outed AMDBSNick as a closet BR fan boy.

Clearly he wished to conceal that fact, with his discreet PM.

Being a BR fan boy is nothing to be ashamed of AMDBSNick. Be proud; sing it out loud…. Yeti does thumbup

Chris I'm always down there having some remedial work done. Whether it's "pheasantgate" "postboxgate" or some other stuff. The reason I PM'd Ade's details is I didn't want to stick his mobile number on a public forum. Imagine, everyone would be calling and I would never be able to get through with my latest issue thumbup
