As far as I know fuse 22 opens the valves in the exhausts permanently in pre-2012 models and then it's fuse 15 for 2012 onwards.

So, in 2012-onwards cars, what does fuse 22 do?

(pulled 15 out tonight, much better!) biggrin

Cheers!

I think my manual still states fuse 22 does exhausts... will double check!

Pull it and report backas to what's stopped!
Could also try pulling Fuse22 in the engine bay - makes the exhaust really really quiet.

Only joking - please don't pull that one - it disables the engine, hence a really quiet exhaust.

The main reason I ask is that dealer pulled 22 but should've pulled 15, so I had it for a few days without 22 and everything seemed ok!?

Regardless, speak to Bamford Rose about installing a discreet switch to keep the valves active. I've had it from them and the factory that they could seize if left permanently disconnected. And that could mean a new back box. Had the switch done on mine, took about 20mins. It's tucked above the fuel cap release, so not even visible in the car.

On my MY10 V8V Fuse 22 does nothing (AFAIK!). The same as the OP, it was (wrongly) pulled when I got the car, but I then removed 15 for the exhausts. Never had a problem since ...

It's easy enough to stick it back in every few months to keep the mechanism working, but even if it stops working permanently I don't see that as much of a problem..>!

Could that be the fuse that controls the module that makes paint bubble? LEAVE IT OUT*! jester

  • I don't really know what it does.

On the V12V doesn't the sport button keep the exhaust valves open? I only ever drive with sport on smile

Yes but it also gives you less throttle control, by remapping the throttle pedal depression from linear to a curve - meaning it takes less pedal movement to obtain high throttle. This makes the car seem like it goes faster, but it isn't really its just giving you a heavy foot!

Try pulling the fuse then you get all the noise all the time and a much more detailed throttle pedal, plus you don't have to press the button every time you start the car. Simples!

It tells you in your manual what each fuse is for.

Anybody know why they actually chose to swap it then if F22 now does nothing? Surely would have been easier to leave it as F22 and let whatever was F15 before do nothing????

The Boot Fuse F15 (5A) in an '07 Car is 'SPARE'.

Pages 10.33 to 10.36 in the Owners Manual specifies what each fuse is for.

Ahh, so probably somebody at AM just feeling the need to defrag the fusebox then I guess... tongue out

Checked the manual last night, mine is still showing Fuse 22 as Exhaust and vacuum pump (?) so obviously the old manual in a revised car! Fuse 15 says Unavailable so i presume they have just swapped 22 & 15 for some random reason!

another question - what is the vacumm pump? is it part of the exhaust valve system?

It is the part that creates the vacuum which via a pipe moves the valve (opposite of a compressor)
The fuse protects the vac pump so pulling it cuts the power supply to it, no vacuum no moving valves
