I found this pictorial of the Porsche production process back in 1974. I find it fascinating to see the differences with today's procedures (as documented on the Nat geo channel etc.)

They are known as cookie cutters. Lighter than the Fuch wheel but don't look as nice

Quite impressive wasn't it. I have never seen engines being built in such s calm relaxed way. Also watching the complete drive train getting married to a body in four minutes was quite impressive.

We were there last Monday and were well impressed.

Yes the engine hall was much quieter than I thought and as you say relxed, the way automation, human and just in time techniques work together is impressive, the fact the the right drive train meets the body is cool, and at least on the production line could get nice and close. Its two hours well spent and provides an interesting insight, would like to see Leipzig too, we drove back today 771miles!!

yikes Cricky. We did Stuttgart to Rotterdam in one hit and that was enough tedious motorways for me. Only about 375 miles. The last bit through Holland was enough to make you realise how good the driving is on our roads.

Also did museum your and that was incredible.

It went really quickly and enjoyed the drive yesterday, we've done 1805 miles in 6 days.

Some pictures from the Museum Museum Pics

Stuttgart to UK in the day no probs. I did it back to Worcestershire via a quick look at the Ring for an hour on the way back.
